What have you guys done to achieve this on your Airstream's roof? Where have you found the best place on the roof for antenna placement?[/QUOTE]

Here is how I attached the Truckers antenna to the mast of the winegard antenna on the 19' Bambi.

Will do the same thing with either a Surecall or Wilson marine antenna for the 23FB.

I used the original magnetic antenna on a 6" steel disck that I mounted to the top of the AC shroud.
I don't think it worked very well so I am replacing it with the Truckers/RV antenna like the one in post 73. I also bought a new inside antenna to replace the Hershey Bar.

I installed a Surecall on the corner of a solar panel. I've yet to route it into the trailer. Trying to figure out the best way....where to enter the trailer.

On the Bambi, I drilled a hole for both the antenna cable and the Shakespeare Sirius marine antenna. The Shakespeare was mounted over the hole. I can take a picture once it stops snowing........

I installed the Wilson Marine antenna on the 23FB, but also have a SureCall Omni antenna that I could easily use instead.

Does anyone have any insight into which would offer the best performance?

Many thanks,

This is what I use.

I had to buy an adapter because the connector was the bigger coax and the booster has the smaller one.

Thanks for the info! Improved strength with panel antenna over candy bar?

I haven't been able to connect the outside antenna yet, so I don't know. Will give it a shot this weekend.

Tested it today. Failed miserably. I gave up and bought a Verizon Jetpack. Verizon offers better service in my RV park than AT&T. I hate to pay Verizon when I have so many AT&T devices, but my weBoost experiment did not work.

My Weboost 4GM and Version Jetpack 4G LTE are a great combo, especially when I place the Jetpack near the candy bar (interior) antenna. I can go from one or two bars to four or five bars consistently.

I mounted this Wilson 12 inch antenna https://www.wilsonamplifiers.com/12-...a-male-311125/ on the roof at the rear of the trailer. It sits on a powder coated 8x8 inch steel plate that is attached using 3M exterior adhesive strips. I applied caulk around the edges of the plate.

I've been on the road for six weeks through California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, Yukon and Alaska. I use the Jetpack everywhere but Canada, however the Weboost gives great signal boost on the cell phones in Canada.

So I'm a newbie when comes to the concept of the Jetpack. So it functions as a 'booster' for the internal antenna? So with a weak signal from the internal candy bar it will boost/increase the signal to your phone?

Weboost install

No. The Jetpack is a Verizon brand name for a cellular hotspot.

The weBoost is supposed to boost cellular signals. So whether it's a Jetpack or a cellphone, the weBoost will boost the cellular signal they get.

The Jetpack and or the cellphones connect to the weBoost using the internal "candy bar" antenna of the weBoost. The weBoost connects to the cellular network with the external antenna.

In theory, the weBoost will boost the signal reception of connected cellular devices, like the Jetpack. For me it didn't work. It doesn't always. There has to be a signal to boost. YMMV.

Make sure that your external antenna has a proper ground pane. It must be mounted on a metal surface in order for the antenna to function properly. I upgraded to a taller 12 inch Wilson antenna than the one included in the weBoost 4G kit.

An yes.....you must have a signal to boost. I've turned a weak Verizon 1x signal to usable 3G on a regular basis.
