Want to mount a 32" flat screen

I'd like to upgrade the older flat screen tv on my 2005 International 28' above the dinette seat to a 32" model. If I need to upgrade the mount too, will the wall hold a beefier mount suitable for a 32" flat screen?

Thanks,

Jeff

The new TV's are very light, we just changed out a customers 32" for a 47" LED/3D, it was only 2" deep, used the same mount, it was a 2014 International.

I doubt the mount will be an issue in an RV,,, but where the screws go into the back of the TV freaked me out enough that I modified my mount method.

Okay, thanks all. You're right - the newer tv's are lighter these days. I don't look forward to attaching the mount to the monitor though. The existing mount is very limited in motion and can only be tilted up or down by loosening the brackets. I guess it makes sense to make it stiff but I'm just hoping the mounting locations are universal.

I thought that's why I'm bringing a lot of books to read while we start our full-timing life on the road but the wife can't live without her football.

Yes all good advice. I remember I looked up the specs on the factory mount and the original Sony TV. The new bigger LED set was lighter than the Sony and if I recall, the mount about 2x stronger than even the Sony needed.

To add a few things

- On the new TV specs, consider the weight without the stand that comes with the set.
- Our factory setup has nylon web straps with Velcro to stow the set while on the road. The original straps fit the 22" I mounted, but a 32" may need a Velcro extender or longer strap.
- TV mounting hole patterns are standard VESA. There are a few different sizes (measured in mm) but adapters are available. The mount that came with our Airstream had two different VESA size hole patterns in it. Our new set bolted right on.
- I do not know what mount you have (I think ours is a Peerless?) - but Airstream added a "U" shaped bracket to it - I think for more stability once stowed for the road. I posted pictures of the installation. You can see that bracket here and the minor modification I made to re-use it.
