Voyager Back Up Camera with Apple Play?

We would like to have our Voyager rear view camera on our AS broadcast to our Alpine apple play unit in our TV. Has anyone had success with this?

I’ve never got my voyager to work right as a back up camera.

I'll be interested to hear the responses. Although, one of the things I like about the Voyager receiver is that it frees up the phone and car screen for other things.

Really? What was the problem? It's always been very straightforward for me.

Hi

AFIK the Voyager is a proprietary link system. Apple needs something more generic to work with.

I have had the Voyager system for 4 years. The signal is encrypted, if I recall right, so guessing this would be tough if not impossible.

We like the system, and it's been reliable but it would be much better if it had a zoom feature to allow getting a quick, better view of traffic that is farther back.

Why would you want to see the signal on an apple TV? Curious

I believe the OP may have meant the Apple CarPlay system on her Tow Vehicle’s infotainment system.

The Voyager monitor is a big and bulky thing hanging from the windshield. A more integrated screen would be great.

Mine works ok for a while, then always goes out with bad signal.

The Voyager system on my 2018 International 23FB would not sync with the tow vehicle monitor even though the previous owner had no problems. I took the coach in for some warranty work last month at Airstream Adventures NW in Caldwell, ID with that problem high on my list.

They "reset" the system and it has worked perfectly ever since. I was so delighted, I didn't get around to asking for details. You might try asking them or your preferred dealer for guidance on fixing yours.

Voyager Back Up Camera with Apple Play?

I don’t think you are going to get the camera to work with Apple car play. I’m sure the transmission from the camera is a proprietary protocol.

Ted S. - I had the same issue with dropped signals until I ordered a voyager antenna extension with a 10' cable which placed the antenna about the mid point of my 2018 25' Serenity. Drove 3000 miles with not one dropped signal after that.

Our vehicle doesn't have CarPlay or Android Auto, but we have found that having the Voyager rearview camera display available all the time a huge improvement over just the side mirrors. Helps with changing lanes in particular. With CarPlay, the backup view would only be available for backing up.

However, having the video in the dash would be far preferable to the current arrangement of the video hogging a lot of the dash and potentially impinging on the view to the front-right of the TV.

Agree with johndorst

I agree with johndorst's comment - even if you could get the display to sync with the radio, you will not have a dedicated view of what's going on behind you, likely when you need it most. It's like using your phone for NAV and getting a call just before your turn-off.

I've gotten used to having the Voyager display on the dash and while it is bulky, it has proven reliable and a godsend in expressway traffic. Having the ability to see 3 lanes wide before changing lanes provides that extra peace of mind!
