TV upgrade issues: Please help!

I have a 2015 International and recently upgraded the TV from the stock 28" to a 32" Smart TV and, for some reason, the audio is no longer hitting the surround sound on AUX mode on the stereo.

Anyone have any idea why? I assume it's user error or some setting on the TV I don't have right (I swear I've checked everything in the sound settings) but could use some knowledge here!!

On my 2015, the red and white audio out plugs from the TV are special after-market wires added by AS via a hole in the back of your TV. Your new TV likely does not have them, and you may have connected the audio wires from the wall into the audio/in connections of the TV. To get audio out on a TV with the special AS wires, get a headphones plug adapter and use the headphones audio out on the back of the new TV, connecting the headphones jack on the TV to the red and white audio plugs coming from the wall. Hope that helps, Joe

You could not have been more right! I went to my local electronics shop and got a wire that took 3.5mm to red/white RCA cables. Good to go! Thanks very much!

theflash44,

Could you tell me if you were able to use the original OEM mount with the new TV?
Do you have any pix if the finished install you could share? I've been thinking of doing a upgrade to a larger TV instead of the 22" I currently have in the trailer. I'm having a hard time picturing a 32" in that space next to the fridge. Did you have any fitment problems?

Hey Bluto,

Sorry for being so late on this..

No, I was not able to use the OEM mount. The TV does fit great but cannot go flush against the wall, meaning it always maintains a slant. The best news about that though is that now I can get much better viewing angles than before. I'm very pleased with the results.

Here are some pics! Basically I removed the old mount, went to local hardware store and cut a small 2x4 into something I was comfortable using as the wall base for the new mount. I then stained the wood, screwed into wall (being sure to avoid back of fridge and did so by going just left of the original mount), then screwed in mount over top of the 2x4.

We just did the same to ours. We took out the original TV and added a 32" Samsung. The only audio out on the back of our TV is an optical. I just decided to get a sound bar and mount under the TV. Actually my sound bar does not have an optical, but I am getting an optical to 3.5mm adapter to make it work. I bet your TV does not have the older style RCA (red and white) plugs for audio out. If you have an optical audio out then you can use an adapter to RCA. That may fix your problem.

theflash44,

No problem, it was worth the wait, that install really looks good! If I didn't see it I wouldn't have believed that the large television would have fit in that space. Thanks for the pix.
Now to plan my own tv upgrade.

Echelon, Thanks for bringing up the optical vs rca connectors. Please keep us informed.
