The Lev-Blaster- portable music machine.

Greetings form the Boundry Waters Canoe Area. (More on that later).

Last Christmas, a friend gave me a set of three inch speakers to build a portable music box. He got tired of listening to my crappy 4 dollar Sony speakers, and since he just finished building a boom box, there was some one-ups-manship going on along with to much testosterone.

So after months of planning and construction and re-doing, I present the LEv-Blaster: Measuring about 8 1/2" high and about twenty inches wide when in one piece, it features many, many, many, many torex screws, 3/8" thick brushed aluminum front and back, stainless steel bass ports, red oak sides, a 40 watt Sonic-Impact Super T amp from Parts Express, and some really high quality cabling from surplus places here and there.

This is powered either by AC or a profesional camera battery similar to a Quantum for boondocking. This particular battery will run the stereo for a week and a half! I'm almost convinced I could run the AS for a short period with this thing.

The important thing is it sounds fantastic, even outdoors. And yes, I am considerate to my neighbors when camping, but they all want me to build one for them.....

So what would be the reaction from the boom boxes on wheels at America's intersections should you have your creation in 'voice' in your AS as you pull along side?! I LOVE IT!

Canoestream,

What fire ban? We're goin' through wooden pallets and used tire like there's no tommorow .

Seriously beautiful up here. Your definition and mine of washboard roads are pretty different....yow.

Thanks for the thoughts to everyone else on the Lev-Blaster.

We were up there about 25 miles east of you this last weekend. I did a lot of backroads with just my truck. The washboarding is worse than average with the weather being dry -- it was okay in my truck but I thought of your towing with an, "Uh-ohh." At least I did mention washboard roads and dust. I'm washing our Safari and the inside of my truck cap and box tomorrow!

Yep, burning tires keeps all the skeeters away.

Well now that is a serious looking kit. Very nice workmanship. Bit of an audio junkie myself and can't think of a better use of the T amp. I had thought of something along the lines of triode based ipod docking amps(I am a tube roller with the home stereo) but the cost is crazy next to the Tamp and I've heard good things about them regarding the overall sonics.
Again very nice

John,

Thanks for that. I'm going to add a rosewood "plate" to cover the front of the amp and also use a smaller knob. Will post a photo when I get around to that project.

Holy crap! I thought I was over the top. Now I believe I am just a moderate, normal person.

OK, back to the shop...

I find it curious that crazylev has "LEV ZEPPELIN" under his name. Coincidence? Some previously undiscovered dirigible-boom box connection?

Me love Lev-Blaster! Wife thinks I need more employment. Can't say I disagree.
