Stereo/DVD and TV Upgrade Suggestions...

Howdy...

Well previously my JVC was acting weird with Bluetooth now LG tv not getting HDMI signal......

Not too surprising figuring they are both $100 units.

Anything plug and play that is a good actual upgrade?

I don't want to mess with the wall mount for the TV and am probably limited in size based on that... unless another easy swap out.....

A nicer dvd/blue ray/stereo/BT system would be nice.... I have the means to modify the existing box it's in.

2019 Sport 22FB

Thanks,

W

This is something I also need to research. The sound system AS puts in is pretty worthless. Don’t know what they’re thinking.
Anyway my thoughts are to get away from an automotive type unit and get a home style receiver that is actually designed to switch signals. This has a few challenges such as getting 120 vac up there, modifying the cabinet without making it look bad, Etc. I’ll be watching this thread with great interest for ideas.

Stereo/DVD and TV Upgrade Suggestions...

I went with a pioneer DA-120 App Radio 4 touch screen multimedia double din deck with apple car play, paired with Polk audio MM1 series speakers. I then upgraded my main screen to a 32” Samsung N5300 smart TV with Samsung TV mate soundbar.

I’ve got a pretty well tuned concert hall now when I leverage both sound bar and 4 polk speakers. Was about $1,000 bucks for everything. Worth it if you want a higher end experience.

Last item I need to address is the stock sub woofer. That’s gonna go, just haven’t decided what I want to replace it with. Maybe a 10” polk unit... we’ll see...

More details on an install I did on my older trailer here...

Yikes!

Nice set up but I'm on the road and need plug and play and more reliability...

Looks like the current TV mount wont support larger screens without a possible swivel attachment...

Maybe I need to visit Best Buy etc and see what they have or can show me.

As far as receiver; I'd just like a little better maybe a way for Apple Play or TV.. (I'm all Mac here)

Oh yea I had some trouble with DVD last night and went ahead and plugged my lap top into the TV via HDMI. All that showed up with blank desktop, no files and not the dvd that was playing.....

Why cant this stuff be easy? ;/

Thanks!

Nice set up. I did similar and retrofitted my Xbox on velcro above the Bluray Player shelf (bluray disconnected) - that gave me the 'smart' for the TV with Netflix, Plex, etc. I was worried the Xbox would die from all the bouncing around but it's been 6 months and it's still working just fine.

Have you tried just disconnecting the sub? It feels to me like your nice 4 speakers might have enough range?

Hi Rounder44,
I also have a 22 footer. Mine is just a little older (lol) 1964. Still the area (square footage) to be covered is very similar. I am a bit of an audiophile I went with a Kenwood KDC-X995 head unit and Boston Acoustics SR60 component speakers located in the front upper cabinet and a switched,
Pioneer Stage 4 PRS-D4200F Power Amp to power the Bose Acustimass 3 speaker system in the middle and rear sub. The sound is more than adequate for this small space and sounds fantastic at low volumes but when I kick in the AMP and turn it up, WOW, it rocks the place. I think Pioneer has the best specs on there head units however they cater more to I-phone users and I am an Android guy so I went with Kenwood. Best wishes and good luck in your search.

In our 25FB I upgraded the mount (Amazon) for a 1080P Samsung 32 inch. For better sound i installed Bose solo 5 soundbar, I kept the existing Samsung BluRay player, because we are mainly interested in watching our Dish Satellite system.
The TV mount is an easy up grade and gives you some flexibility on watching the TV,

Your space situation in the 22 sport may be different.

Still have the sub connected - still need it to fill out the bottom end.

I also have an Apple TV - but it’s a little redundant now with the latest OS / apps on the Samsung TV.

wulfraat, awesome upgrade! We just purchased our Serenity and would like to do the same upgrade to ours. I just need to get the courage to cut the cabinet.

I'm watching this post closely as I have a 2018 AS Sport 22 also and agree the sound system is worthless. I have not opened up the area where the radio is so I'm not sure a double DIN unit will fit. My JVC has a mind of it's own and comes on around 4:00 am some mornings. Of course never does that at the dealer. Time for this thing to go.

A good place to start is the Crutchfield catalog.
They specialize in car stereo and adapter plates.
Everything from simple to exotic.

I'm restoring a 1974 Overlander and have been looking into entertainment options. I think my lists of wants maybe too long. Lol. Satellite radio, blue ray, ability to run a bluetooth/ WiFi speaker for outside, app control with phone or tablet, play movies and music from network drive. Ideally be able to do all this with as few pieces as possible. So far the closest I've come is a smart TV, probably Samsung, with the new Apollo head unit from Fusion with a USB connected blue ray drive. Not sure that will get me the wireless speaker drive or not though.

Easy and cheap.

I have a 2014 22fb. The DVD seems to have issues. However a cheap alternative to changing out all of your hardware so you can get better sound out of the TV ( I know the original TV leaves a lot to be desired) is to simply run a mini patch cable from the headphone jack of the TV to the Auxiliary In jack on the stereo. It will put out plenty of sound for that small space and only will cost maybe $10.

Most of my movies are on a hard drive or my Surface can stream whatever I need. I just hook the Surface into an HDMI port via an adaptor. It isn’t as pretty but it is effective.

The deeper I get into this the more problems I see. I was just looking at subs and amps and now I'm worried about power consumption. I'd like to be able to keep a fridge running on solar most of the summer, while being able to listen to the radio at least on weekends when trailer is parked out at our vacant land. Just ordered a solar/battery package from northern Arizona wind and solar. 640 watts of panels, 2000 watt inverter charger and 2 battleborn batteries, plus all the connections and such. Just need an electrical engineer to figure out power consumption lol.

Save Power

I removed the sub from my 28' AS. I found it acoustically a waste and it allowed me to use the radio with out consuming power while boon docking. I'm in the decision process phase of selecting a double DIN unit. Hold up is deciding touch screen type, capacitance or resistive.
