Stainless steel exterior receptacle covers

Not sure exactly where this thread belongs, but I have tried searching, but to no avail. I am looking to replace the exterior plastic covers on my trailer. I have found a Marinco S.S. Receptacle cover that looks interesting, and a Marinco cable TV/internet cover. Has anyone had any experience with these items?

There was/still is an Airstream dealer that was selling stainless and chrome plated outside replacements for your trailer. Prices were way more than I would ever pay.

It has been five years or more ago, and could have been south of Salt Lake City. They may have specialized in restorations and selling used, versus new trailers.

They had three or four Airstreams on the lot and seemed to do restorations. It has been too long ago to recall much more detail. I had found their site from radio advertisements and were thinking at the time to trading in our 2006 Safari and thought... lets look at the 25 footers. I recall the hot water tank cover being chromed or stainless, and the outside vent flap for the cook top.

We just happened to be in the area. Sandy, Utah comes to mind, but so does camped in the desert west of Delta, Utah... which has even less to offer.

This was just posted by Airstream Life - It includes a link to buy.

SMARTPLUG POWER INLET UPGRADE

I think these Furrion receptacles are also direct replacements. The interior can be swapped for the cable inlet too.

Airstream has a sale once a year in January for all these outside outlets in stain steel , a really good sale.

While at the International I bought and installed from Airstream the Smart Plug set up. Receptacle and cord. Had the same surprise as Outsideinterest under the old receptacle. Seemed like several ozs of potting compound glueing it all together. I was able to easily remove the compound from the outside by cutting it out using a sharp knife and a pair of needle nosed pliers. Easy and solid connection with no more warm trailer side plug end. My project yesterday was to convert the old cable to a 25 ft extension cord. Replaced the trailer side end with a new 30 amp female end from the new local Camping World.

Last year when I received my new 16 Classic, which has all stainless outdoor covers except the 110 outlet on the curbside and the cable outlet on the street side, the first thing that I did was replace them both. No cheap plastic on my new Classic! I got a 110 cover from Marinco and a cable cover from Furrion. They both look great and work very well. Easy to install.

I replaced both 30 amp outlet covers and the TV inlet cover with SS covers by Furrion, same manufacturer as the stock plastic covers. The SS covers are the same size as the plastic ones and the holes match up perfectly with no worry of having to re-drill holes. I did use the original screws rather than those supplied with the new covers as the new ones were slightly thinner and I wanted to be sure of a good tight seal. The TV inlet I have on my '14 25FB had two connections inside, for Cable and Satellite. The SS one from Furrion only has one, center hookup but the "guts" can be interchanged between the original cover and the new SS cover. Three screws on the back of the units allow for the original, two post inlet to be used in the new, SS cover (instead of the one post inlet). Very easy to do and they look way better than the plastic!

Sorry pics came out being posted sideways!

Rich - can you confirm that the TV inlet is the Furrion VTS-512. Where did you get it?

The one I used is Furrion part # FTVINS-SS TV Stainless Steel Data Inlet, with one TV/Sat Inlet. I think the receipt is out in the AS; I'll find it and see where I got it from.

I have already bought the SmartPlugs (for the front and side) but have not installed them yet.

I will be installing this weekend and will probably video and add to my youtube channel. Hopefully no issues other than what has already been mentioned on this thread.
