Question Satellite TV questions

Hi all, new to satelite TV. We NEED to see Detroit Tigers baseball while full timing. Had been getting MLB extra innings on cable at our sicks and bricks. Learned Direct tv provides MLB extra innings. Was going to use relatives Direct TV account, adding receiver...etc. quite a hassle for him. Called Dish Network and found them very helpful. They don't offer the MLB extra innings package, but we are told by them and our local Camping World that we can watch our Tigers on Fox Sports Detroit nationwide on Dish Network. Unsure if we need to call Dish from wherever we may be and give them a local zip code so they can "send" satelite signal our way. Seems too easy.....anyone with any advice/ experience with this? Can one actually see say a Detroit sports station while in AZ or WA?

We use Direct TV.....the Winegard SK 3005...mounted on the roof of our AS. Works wonderfully....but you need to make certain that the games you want to watch are broadcast on Direct. ..

We have a problem in Oregon because the Pac-12 signed a contract with Dish, not Direct....and a lot of us are not happy...anyway we are happy with Direct and the Winegard company which makes many different antenna options....

We have Direct at home, and the extra receiver in the AS costs us $5/ month!!

Thanks. We are newby full timers, plan to just travel around visiting family for the next year or so. Planned to use daughters Direct account similarly to your situation. She is finding Direct not very easy to deal with. I should add that she is currently buying a moving to a different state and trAnsferring her Direct account, which complicates matters. Dish has been very good so far and we may use them IF we can pick up Fox Sports Detroit nationwide. I don't think the Tailgater system would be best for us, Lille the Wineguard Carryout, as we prefer a portable dish. Still researching...

The value of the Carryout is that you can use it with different satellite services. Nice if you aren't committed to one. The downside is unlike the Tailgater, it requires a separate power feed so you will have two cables to run.

If HD and Direct are important to you, be sure that the Carryout will support HD when subscribing to Direct. I know there is a Tailgater type unit made for Direct but it will not support HD due to Direct using a different frequency on their HD satellite.

Same here, we switched 3 years ago from Dish to Direct and have really liked it better and also we have the same setup as Zigi.
