Problem with Phone Jack

On all phone jacks, once the telephone cord is plugged into the jack, it cannot be released with the jack lever. Have tried prying it out, removing plate cover from the wall and pushing the jack from the rear of the plate; nothing works. Has anyone had a similar problem or can someone suggest a solution short of replacing the entire plate.

Most likely the plug on the end of the cord has a sharp edge on the plastic wing-spring catch. Sometimes a pair of pliers on the plug would be necessary for removal, being sure to press on the wing-spring catch, and maybe the help of a small (eyeglass type) screwdriver. Try another cord when you get it out, this will let you know if it is the plug on the cord or the jack.

Lot of luck

Welcome from the Florida Panhandle

First off, Welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us.

I have had same problem from time to time with both telephone and cat 5 locking plugs. I have always been able to remove them using a small pocket knife tip to further depress the locking tab.

after holding in the release tab, try pushing in the plug before pulling it out.
