New TV in rear bedroom area - 23D

Our 2014 23D International Serenity was 'wired' for basic television (antenna only, no HDMI) in the rear bedroom area. There was no mount, just wall-mounted RG6 connector and 120-volt outlet. We wanted to conveniently play DVDs or BluRay discs in that area, and I completed that little project today.

Linda (wife) is thrilled, and I'm happy too with how it all turned out.

I installed a beefy little swing arm TV mount. ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) I used a 12" X 12" square of 1/2" thick Baltic birch inside the closet with 'tee nuts.' This provides overkill security for the TV mount. We bought a 24" LG TV (so the remote wouldn't fiddle with the Samsung TV in the front, lounge area of the trailer).

With the TV mount angled down for a comfortable viewing angle from the bed, the metal pieces form a "V" behind the TV. I constructed a platform with the correct angle to slip firmly into the TV mount. I laminated Wilsonart gloss black laminate to the top of the shelf (to serve as a suitable surface for industrial strength Velcro), and painted the rest of the gizmo with Krylon flat blact. The DVD/BluRay player is simply attached with 'industrial' Velcro. The television and the player move as one unit.

I tidied-up the wiring so it didn't look like a complete rat's nest, and shazzam, I was done.

TV and movies in the rear bedroom area: mission accomplished! Yay!

Very nice job indeed. I am planning to do a similar one in our 23D. You said the you added a 12" x 12" Baltic Birch plate inside the closet to support the weight of this assy. Do you happen to remember how thick the closet wall panel was when you drilled thru it (1/4", 3/8" 1/2")? Are you convinced at this point that the closet wall is not strong enough to support the bracket and TV by itself without the birch panel on the inside? Do you think the wall could support this with just the t nuts on the inside without the support plate? Thanks in advance.

The TV speakers sound OK in the bed corner? Are you using RG6 to connect the DVD to the TV?

Thanks for the kind compliments!

The wall thickness is 1/2" (nominal). Being a devotee of profound overkill, I went ahead with the added back-up panel (crummy photo below). The fact is that the factory panel alone would probably be just fine with the tee-nuts, but a back-up panel is so easy... why not?

Let me know which way you go... I love this stuff!

Happy Friday, Kelvin!

Yeah, the television speakers are "OK" back there, just good enough to keep me from considering doing anything else.

Nope, the television-to-player hook up is HDMI (short little one foot cable with 90-degree adapters on each end).

Try a bluetooth speaker back there. Connect via 3.5mm from the TV.
