Mysterious Remote?!?! (Help?)

Hello!
My friend picked up his brand new 2018 Globetrotter today - VERY very exciting! We’ve been busy figuring everything out today. Within the kitchen cabinet was 4 remotes — 3 were Samsung, and the 4th one is a huge mystery. It has zero brand markings on it.
The sales rep and service rep both pleaded ignorance, as this was their first Globetrotter delivery. We’ve tried all day to figure this out, with no luck.
So.... +10 points to anyone who can solve the mystery of the unknown remote. Can anyone tell us what this remove does or should do? To what device does this remote connect?

THANK YOU in advance for your help!

Welcome to the forums.
We've had several Globetrotters come and go, and none of them had that remote. Have your friend call Airstream directly tomorrow, and ask them what it is. It may have ended up in the goody box by accident, and there may be an employee wondering what happened to the remote for his veeblefetzer.

It looks like a remote for a radio.

Is the awning motorized? 4 "stops?"

My first guess was awning also, but I'd expect a "In/Out".
It has a power button as if it turns on another device. Then four selections.
My curious self would turn everything on and push the buttons and see if something moves or flashes.

Another guess - possibly for the “ambient lighting” - 4 intensity levels?

Whatever it is, it is basic and they spared no expense on the $1 generic remote - reason behind my first guess of HDMI switch. There should be something in the stack of device manuals that came with the trailer.

Good luck!

I second the vote for the HDMI switch. That would allow switching HDMI sources since most of the TV only have one or two HDMI cables coming in.

UPDATE - mysterious remote

Hi All,

Thanks for your great suggestions about the mysterious remote. This morning we tried the awning and the lighting, with no luck. The TV remote changes the HDMI sources. We also discovered the toilet does not have any bidet features. We have tried everything, still no luck. But I do appreciate all your serious and humorous replies!

I will have to find time to call Airstream CS during their business hours and hope someone there can solve this mystery.

We also haven't ruled out the possibility that they just threw in a random remote for fun, just to mess with us...

Cheers from AZ.

Yes the TV remote can change HDMI sources but only between 2 sources. If you have more than two HDMI sources it requires a separate HDMI switch which is usually mounted somewhere in the entertainment cabinet. For instance, you can have a DVD and Satellite input on your HDMI ports for your TV, however if you add an Apple TV as an example it would then require an HDMI switch to carry all three. Also, if you have two TVs in the unit it will require an HDMI switch to take the signal coming in from the DVD or Satellite and split it out to both TVs. That’s why I still believe it is a remote to the HDMI switch as most of those switch remotes have no labels...I have one in my home and one in my trailer, neither one has any labels except for the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4 like the one in your picture.

The Globetrotter has a Polk radio, which doesn't have a remote. It does, however, have a waterproof cover.

It's the remote that opens the Airstream guy's door. Either that or the ceiling fan or AC.
