Humming sound
I have just completed several minor repairs on our 1971 Airstream. I now can hear a slight humming sound coming from the green DC fuse box when plugged into 120volt plug. It never did this before. We just bought this and we are new to the Airstream community. I appreciate any help with this.

I think you are referring to the univolt converter. The hum is normal....you must have fixed it too.

Humming
It is really loud, I could never sleep with it making that noise. It never did it in the 2 months we"ve owned it. I was trying to light the heater, to no avail. Maybe that is related?

Yep, sounds like the Univolt alright. I replaced the working (and humming) Univolt in my Excella with a Progressive Dynamics Inteli-Power. Not only is it a superior converter that won't overcharge the batteries, it is totally silent.

I have to give My answer , DanB would expect it.
Do You know why the univolt hums.
Because it doesn't know the words.
Sorry had to do it. At first Dan and Dawn thought I was totally serious when I told them I knew why the brakes on their trailer where humming.

Ok how difficult was it to replace. I have a 78. Argosy. Buzz not bad, but univolt not as reliable as I'd like.

I have installed these in both my vintage Airstreams. If you aren't comfortable with doing it yourself, it should be a 1 hour labor charge.
