I have a 2015 Classic and was mildly frustrated when watching a DVD or streaming a video in the bedroom that I needed to get up, and point the DVD remote at the player in the main compartment to make any changes. Even when the cabinet containing the DVD player is open, IR signals don't bounce around the cabin very well.
So I looked into IR repeater solutions and was put off by either the size of some of these solutions or the cost. Well I found one that I suspect others might be interested in. It's called an IR Extender and it connects to either side of a HDMI cable. There's a small transmitter and small receiver that you can place anywhere. The receiver picks up the IR signal and sends it to the transmitter over your existing HDMI cable.
It's quite clever and only costs $20 from NewEgg.com. I just installed and it works fine. Hope someone else finds this useful.
