Dish Tailgater/27FB

We have a Dish Tailgater system that I've used for several years on our fifth wheel and I would like to move it to the "new to us" 27FB.

I've searched and searched but I can't seem to come up with ideas on exactly how people hooked everything up.

What I'm thinking about at the moment is mounting the VIP211k receiver vertically below the tv and running the coax down into the fridge compartment, then using flat coax to connect to the Tailgater.

I'm not crazy about connecting to the coax under the dinette and then having exposed coax going up to the overhead compartment.

Does anyone have any better ideas?

Thanks!

If the receiver is mounted vertically and has a remote. I think you will have communication problems between the remote and the receiver.
I have a Tailgater. I believe it is recommended to use R6 coax for the dish to receiver connection.
Don't know how the flat coax you mention will work.

Once you are into the fridge compartment, put a connector on the coax. When you deploy the tailgater, use RG-6 coax to hook up to the connector in the fridge compartment through the door, left open in a crack. Or you could drill a small hole in the door or the trailer skin and use a 75 ohm double female connector.

Another alternative is to use the Cable TV coax. If your trailer has the two connector plate with the jumper on it for TV cable you can hook the Dish receiver up to that and then hook the tailgater up to the other end, wherever that is located on your trailer. If not, you can add one.

Here is a link to what I did:

You will note that I also mounted the DirecTV receiver vertically. The remote worked fine. Apparently there was enough scattering of the IR off the wall to close the link.

Al,

Thanks for the diagram. I get what you're saying but the satellite input is on the floor underneath the dinette. I'd have to put the receiver on the dinette table and have coax going up the side walls into the overhead compartment on the road side in order to connect into the existing onboard coax.

I'm just trying to avoid that, and I appreciate your thoughts on the fridge compartment.

Sorry, missed the part about the coax under the dinette, or didn't understand it.
