The simple answer to your question is no, not without streaming it. I live in Florida & get the NFL package, my son lives in Las Vegas, using my Direct TV password he's able to stream the games he wants to watch to his 60" flat screen TV, this only happens because we both have excellent wifi.

We take the DirecTV Genie from home and put it in our Airstream when we travel and we take our 1080P HD programming with us. There are three things required

DirecTV SL3 LNB 4 Out. Portable Satellite Dish RV Camping Tailgating with an,

Add an
HDMI splitter behind the DVD player. It is a pain in the butt to take it all apart and put it all back together but so worth it.

You will also need two HDMI cables short ones are fine.

I also purchased a Max Tracker PLUS Satellite Meter DirecTV SWM Compatible because the Genie requires the high power meter. So when on the road we always have our television as we do at home. The only difference is you can’t record while traveling and you will receive your home network channels.

why do you use the mini-router if the Apple TV can use Airplay with your iphone, ipad, or mac? The RV Park I'm staying in requires a password and log in to use the wifi, so the AppleTV can't pick up icloud and other applications - would the mini-router help with this?

Exactly. Streaming to an AppleTV from your Mac or iOS device requires bandwidth that using a park WiFi can not handle. It will be choppy at best.

Current model Apple TVs (v3 and v4) connect wirelessly to all iOS devices without separate wifi or router, so if the goal is to play content from your iPhone or iPad to your TV via a recent model Apple TV, no router is needed, and the video will be smooth.
Best, Joe

Actually, Apple TV can be used without wifi. Check out Airstream Nerds videos;
