3.15 amp fuse for Radio

I have a Sony radio, original equipment, in my 1991 29 foot Excella. A 3.15 amp fuse has blown, and I am unable to find an exact replacement. The fuse is a 5 x 30 mm glass type, but the only ones I can find are 5 x 20 mm.

Any ideas on what replacement fuse to use?

the NAPA parts store here still carries older style fuses. Bring in the old one for comparison.

Does this fuse go into an in-line fuse holder?

If so and if you are unable to find the right 30mm length fuse, one, then as long as the amperage rating is the same for the 20mm one you can find, or pretty close to the same rating, then couldn't you just use a sawn- off bit of 5mm bolt x 10mm long to make up the difference between a 30mm length and a 20mm length?

Just a thought, Its the kind of mickey mouse fix I would likely try! Not teh best solution but should work ok!

Radio Shack, or another store like it would carry the fuse

Or, get a longer spring to make up the space.

Try radio shack for unusual fuses or a store that carries electronic parts for people who build their own stuff.

Radio Shack did not have the replacement. They have the 20mm type.

I'll try Napa. An online search found no instances of the 30mm fuse available.

I'll either try Brian's suggestion, or cut out the old fuse holder and install one for the shorter fuse.
