1970 Control Panel Lights on all the time
So it has really gotten worse over the last year or so. The control panel lights for the black tank level, fresh water level, etc. come on when a light or the water pump draw current. Same thing happens when I go to check the level of the tanks by flipping the appropriate switch.
To get them to go off, I flip the water pump on and off OR the panel night light.
Any thoughts on what might be causing the problem OR what a suitable replacement set up might be using the existing sensors and wiring (and hopefully fitting in the same area)

"1970 Safari" did you ever resolve the problem with your control panel? I have the same issue with mine, some of the tank level lights stay on all the time. It would be nice to have the control panel working again if possible.

hello. as another poster said, check your grounds. also use a volt meter the find out where the lights are getting power while they are on. your wires look good. would not hurt to touch up all solder joints. kurt

Fix it?
I have the same problem. My full black tank light is always on. I feeli have tried everything and it is super annoying. I would love to use the original control panel. Were you able to fix yours or replace it?

control panel lites
Since life and camping get in the way more often then fixing the problem, Must confess that I have not done anything to try to fix my panel. Yes, every time I have to "flip" the panel lite on to get all the others to go out I tell myself to remember to work on that before the next trip.....
Well, I have discovered "soft floor" in the rear passenger corner that has me "parking" the "70" while I work on that, NOW I can also work on the panel.....HOPEFULLY!!!
I plan on touching up all of the solder joints and checking the ground connection.

I have never seen a control panel from this era that works fully. ON mine only the water pump switch and battery level work (questionable). Another problem is the tank level gauges and the tank sensors which long ago have given ups the ghost. I have not heard of anyone able to repair the panel. I would like to know if there is someone. You could disconnect the light to prevent a parasitic draw. There have been several past threads on fabricating a new panel.

Problem solved
So I could not stand this not working. I decided to by a separate micro monitor system on amazon. I removed the clock because it didn’t work and I don’t want to always replace a battery. I installed the new monitor into the existing one since all of the wires are already back there. Only the black tank and battery show on the new monitor but I could install everything else if I wanted.
It’s not the best solution but it is a solution.
On your side note of spongy floor. When I redid my above ground black tank. I had to replace all of the flooring in the back as it was horrible rotted. I found that water was getting in through where the bumper meets the shell. I buttoned that all up and should keep the water out for another 60 years.
I attached pictures of my new monitor system.
