12 volt TV looking to buy

I have been pricing 12 volt LCD TV's for my trailer. The ultimate TV would have a built in radio and DVD player. Anybody have something like that? What am I looking to pay for in price? 19" is what I want to get.

Try here:

JENSEN LCD TVs

They have one with a built in DVD player - last one on the second page.

There might be others out there as well. I haven't bought a TV from them, but the other stuff I've purchased performs very well.

There's always the $100 Newegg.com - GPX TD730B 7" Black TV / DVD Player Combo with the AC/DC adapters included...

I went with a 7" digital-reception battery operated unit last summer for the storm shelter, set me back $70... decent reception. Newegg.com - Rjtech 7" Portable LCD TV iView-700PTV but no longer stocked...

Thanks for the information. I think 12 volt is the way to go.

Paying a big premium for the 12V operation, or they are out of step with where pricing is today. For example, I saw a 32" Toshiba LED for $369 last weekend.

Their "Jensen" model is $699! And I have no idea who makes Jensen TVs.

I bought a Polaroid from Overstock or some such, with a built-in DVD player. I think it was $150 or so. Works fine on 12v (only draws 68 watts) and makes a great monitor for the laptop. I only use it to watch the occasional movie or get the weather. This saves me from the losses and hassles of using an inverter.

I think Aage has a point about pricing - but I don't want a 120v. set ... mostly I boondock and run from solar panels. I've got a generator (two, actually), but quit carrying one - solar does it all for me, so I run everything from 12v. Works for me. If you need a 32" set, then you need 120v and probably a generator or LOTS of solar and LOTS of battery. I don't. YMMV.

Oh, and as to Jensen ...

they've been around forever. This from Wikipedia ...

Jensen Is a consumer electronics brand with a history that dates back to 1915 with Peter Jensen's invention of the first loudspeaker. Over the years the Jensen family of brands has grown to include Jensen, Advent, Acoustic Research (AR), Phase Linear and NHT Loudspeakers (Now Hear This) in the United States and Magnat and Macaudio in Germany. In 2004, Audiovox Corporation added the Jensen portfolio of brands to their mobile and consumer electronics lines.

Yes, I was in Consumer Electronics for a long while at one time, and yes, big fish have been gobbling smaller ones for many many years. I was a buyer for a two-hundred store chain of TV/video goods, so I got to see a lot of the drama from close up.

But Jensen is just another stencil line today, having no manufacturing facilities at all, to my knowledge. The last thing I remember them manufacturing was auto loudspeakers, and they were Made In USA. Of course, sadly NOTHING in that field is MIUSA any more.

I have a Visio LED TV that I think is great for an Airstream. From memory, it is 23", uses about 50 watts, has a 12v connection, weighs only about 7 lbs, and is about 1" thick. I bought it at Sams about 1 year ago for about $250. No dvd player, but I always carry my laptop with me. I am not at home this week, so I can not give you the model number.

If you google vizio, 12v, razor, LED, tv, you should be able to find what you need and it may even be available at Walmart. Not all of the Vizio Razor (thin) LED tv's have the external transformer that takes it from 120v ac to 12v dc. Some of the tv's have internal convertors. You want to find one with an external convertor so you can just plug into a 12v outlet. You will need to find a 12 adaptor cord to power the tv.

We recently purchased the Skyworth 12 volt/120 22" LED with DVD. I've replaced our Jensen 12 volt/120 19" LCD unit that now resides in our son's room.

This is very good price that includes shipping

Bought a 19" at Best Buy, their house brand Insignia, great picture and the transformer steps it down to 12 volt. Went to Radio Shack and bought the corresponding fitting with a 12 volt plug and it works great!

I went to a huge appliance store named Brand Smart. I saw a 12 volt 19" with DVD for $160.00. I did not buy it because I am not ready for the TV until the inside is complete.

I will got with a 12 volt. I am worried about the DVD breaking, but the price was right.

I have been using the Skyworth 22" w/built-in DVD for over two years without any problem. As a matter of fact when I trade-in my 20' Safari I got the dealer swap my Skyworth with 19" Toshiba (120 Volt) in 2011 23 FB Serenity.
This way I do not need invertor and take energy loss in conversion
Good luch

Just wanted to provide some more info on both the tv that I have and the tv mount.

The tv is a 22" Vizio model # M220MV. It is 12v and only 3.3 amps, so only uses 40 watts- great for boondocking. It is LED, only weighs 7 lbs and is about 1.5" deep. I got it at Sams last year for about $200.

My tv mount is great! It is made by VideoSecu, model ML10B and is black. It weighs about 3 lbs, is a very simple design and was less than $20 on line. It will hold tv's up to 33 lbs.
