Highland Haven

We leave "Spirit" at Highland Haven Airstream park from early May til mid October. We love to use Highland Haven as our base camp. When we are not going on trips we use our Airstream as our "summer mountain house."
Come on up and visit us some weekend!!

Our's is parked for now. Our next trip is the end of the month with an undetermined location in Tenneessee as our next port of call. We have been on 6 camping trips this summer since Memorial Day and if you didn't see us, well, we're sorry.

We've camped in 5 different states...that's 1/10 of the U.S. in our first season of Airstreaming and we agree with what you are saying. We have seen other Airstreams on maybe half of our trips and that has been maybe 1 to 3 per trip. The most we saw were at Ft. Wilderness at Disney World (6) and on I-75 between Atlanta and Orlando on that trip (2).

I read an energy consultant from Conn. say that he expects to see gas at $1.35 again in the future. I hope so. Maybe then we'll see more Airstreams on the road again. It's sad to think they are languishing in the back yards and storage lots across the country not getting used for their intended purpose.

We take the 'Stream out about 8-10 times a year. Even at that, figuring the odds, chances of seeing us on the road would be slim.
We have 2 trips planned for next month: once to the central Sierras, once to Refugio State Beach near Santa Barbara.

Were are you

I'm in the Premier RV Park in Salem, Oregon until the 19th then off too San Diego, California for 5 days then too Palm Springs for 7 days then Austin, Texas for the winter.
Except for outings with the new Dallas club, I will sit out the winter in Austin and then head out again.

I'm out here...or as some would say "he's out there!" Traveling I-40 today from Winston-Salem to Hickory NC. Just another great day in the Carolinas. Stopped yesterday at Out of Doors Mart to pick up a few bits and pieces from Paul in parts.
I actually say quite a few AS's as I crossed the country both ways last month. New, old and some I wasn't quite sure of.

I agree, drove over to Chicago last week on Friday and I saw two AS leaving Chicago, do not see many at all!! I did see a base camp heading south through Ann Arbor about three weeks ago.

Mine is in the side yard, and we will be heading out next week to Milan Dragway (Milan, MI).

Keep looking, there are out there.

Unhappy We're in Meeshigan

Wishing we were traveling, but you know school and work.
Gettin cooler up here, but the upside is the cider is great and apples are fresh...yum!

Also its a good time to get those projects going on the Airstream (now in the backyard) and planning next year's new campgrounds hopefully near water...

Gunny:

I spend about half my time in Austin, other half over near TX/LA line on Toledo Bend Lake at Old family farm. Where do you stay in Austin. Would like to see your rig. Looks nice in picture.

Thumbs up Where are U? And Quartzsite

Mine is at family farm in LA getting ready for the winter. Solar panels, extra battery bank and a few other extras getting ready for a loooong trip to Quartzsite, AZ, this winter. BTW, since so many ASers head south for the winter or for a winter visit, wouldn't that be a great place for a gathering/rally?
