US Postal Service adds a new option for on the road travelers

hi all

i've read that some of you use escapees and others maillinkplus. now the usps will offer a premium forwarding service for snow birds, job relocations and military.

basically the post office will hold and box ALL your mail weekly and send it to any address you specify as a priority package for whatever the priority fee is....$8-10 per package weekly. for a higher fee you can opt for overnight shipping.

another feature of the service is that they will redirect any packages to the new address at no extra shipping charge.

appears that there is no time limit on how long you can use this service unlike mail holds which are only good for 30 days.

this is a 2 year test program that i plan to use this fall and winter.....

while i still like the notion of the escapees membership sevices, having the post office handle mail redirecting seems like a good idea, especially if not formally changing addresses or selling the house and picking a tax free state for the awhile.

check it out here:

anyone else interested in this?

cheers

Postal Service says ... "for customers who are away from their primary address for at least two weeks and up to one year."

Won't work for fulltimers like me ... but it is nice to see the USPS offering additional services.
