This retirement thing is exhausting!
Hi all,
This is from my sister Paula Ford aka "Foiled Again".
She's completed the move out of her business and has no internet connection right now.
She asked me to inform the rest of the world that she's still alive and looking forward to being able to communicate with the world within the next week or so.
It's not a job, it's an adventure!

You might brake the news to her that there is one thing they never tell you about retirement. You never get a day off.

update
Paula is alive and well in Virginia but still incommunicado!
New phone and internet service should happen this week.
I spoke to her today and she's finding the early stages of pulling her retirement off to be much harder than actually working...GO FIGURE!
Anyway, she should be re-appearing shortly.

She's truly the wisest poster in the forums - I hope for our sake her internet gets up and running soon - her retirement is hard work on the rest of us! 😀

Isn't she setting up an Avion to live in or do I have her confused with someone else. Get back soon, you are missed.

She does have the Avion which is temporarily in storage as well as her Airstream which is what she's living in currently. She hasn't quite figured out where the Avion will end up yet. Getting all her other ducks in a row has been far more time consuming than she expected but she's getting there. I'm thinking she'll magically re-appear any day now.

Pru,
Tell Paula to slow down, give things time to sort out. Once you are retired, you don't need to hurry....for anything. That is hard for some of us "type A'ers"! It can be done with some practice. Send her our good wishes in her retirement. Evelyn.

She sold her business which is primarily what is requiring so much attention right now. Finalizing all of that and getting all the employees settled with the new owners is a BIG deal and not something she can let go. All the legal "T's" have to be crossed and "I's" have to be dotted. She'll be able to relax soon. She's looking forward to some down time and travel within the next few weeks. I expect her to come to Ohio for a visit soon...which of course will REQUIRE a stop at the mothership...right? LOL!

Ah yes, the old "Ts and As" problem that does require the nose to the grindstone for a while longer. Wish her luck from me. I hope to read some of her entertaining posts as she is on the road again.

Was thinking of her as I walked thru a bookstore yesterday and saw the WWII morale poster she uses as an avatar.

Everyday is Saturday, and no Mondays. Retirement is the art of slowing down to go fast.

I've been so overloaded busy being retired, that I am going to go back to work. That way I have some time off. I'm dead serious about this...

Congratulations! I think it's healthy to stay busy and hope she can do what she loves, even if it it seems hectic. I know there are exceptions, but the ones that sit at home are the ones who've wasted it, IMHO.
My grandmother raised 5 brothers alone, owned a company, and dreamed of her chance to travel. She retired the day she had a stroke. She's still kicking and still an inspiration, but I think of her often when choosing to spend time today traveling and enjoying this great nation.
I wish all of those retired the best!
