Good evening,

Uneventful day. Great visit with gene at A/S of arkansas. Nice showroom and people working there. Everyone went out of there weay to make us feel welcome and to be helpfull.
Thanks Gene and crew. And Gene, I like the toy hauler, but I like ours better.

Had a ball with Susan and Vaughn last night. 2 great people, and the food was tasty and delightfull. Good cook.

Sophie sure enjoyed Nilla and DDD. They raced all over the grounds and sniffed each other to thier hearts content.

Slept very well, it was so quiet and peacefull!

We are in Chocqueta (sp)(were carry underwood is from) Oklahoma. Very nice here, breezy and cool..Sure ain't Florida!!!!! We are definately not in Florida any more Toto!

Traffic has not been bad, very little when you compare to Tampa!

Well need to clean up and start getting ready for tomorrow. Everyone have a great evening.

Marie

Good luck on the trail!
Y'all would have really been worried if I'd worn my hat. Looks similar to The Duke's, but in black...
Now, on with the trials and trevails--
We got to Airstream of Arkansas a bit late this morning, because we had a little trouble with Bertha's toilet. Seems the (really) rough roads in Arkansas managed to break the toilet away from the flange. I noticed "that smell" last night, but was too tired to investigate. This morning, I went to use the toilet, and when I sat down, both the toilet and I leaned drunkenly to the left. I hate that Monday morning lean. We got the brake magnet replaced (turned out one of the wires to the magnet had rubbed the brake drum, and finally had worn through.
We're going to stop by Camping World in Oklahoma City tomorrow morning, and with any luck, we'll be able to get a new closet flange so we can use the toilet again. Luckily, we have a spare. We are spending the night in the B van, so we don't have to 1- smell the black tank all night, and 2- run to the campground toilet in the middle of the (cold) night. I have a small extension cord running to Bertha so the board on the fridge doesn't run the coach battery down overnight.
We had a great time last night, every animal at Rancho Alumitube wanted to spend the night with us, and leave with us the next morning (including the neighbor's dog).
It's been a long day, and we're almost 300 miles short of our goal of 500 per day, so we'll be getting up early to try to make up a few miles tomorrow

Sounds like Gene took care of you guys. You came short of your target, but I don't think you planned a stop at A of A. BTW, it's Checotah.

Ahhh -- Checotah, OK. Can't tell you how many times I've been impressed that getting across Texas is more than a day's drive. And you had plenty of significant distractions getting going this morning. You're making progress at least -- and not too sapped out I trust. Do you plan for getting close to New Mexico tomorrow night?

Set your topgallant staysails crossing the prairie in anything less than 25 knots and you'll be halfway to Maui by Thursday. Steady as she goes sailor!

Hi there Little Black Cloud,

Wow, you think you have seen bad Arkansas roads? These are the repairs! Glad you are on the road again. What a great evening.

Even if there were no pancakes...at least this time.

Thanks, couldn't for the life of me remember the name. Worst part was I was sitting there. Tired, yeah that's right I was tired!

Tonight we are in Tocumcari New Mexico. WoW! The scenery has been very ecletic today. flat, rolling and some mesa type mountains. I'm a nurse, not geologist, I'm not sure what they are called, but it looks like some one came along and chopped the tops off!

Saw my 1st oil drilling rigs, route 66 for the 1st time, and many Indian casinos and gift shops. Saw part of the LBJ ranch from the road. Altogether it was a pretty neat day.

I'll let Terrry tell you about the falling blanket locker over his bunk. no he wasn't in it, but some one needs to fix thier roads!!!!!

And I thought Arkansas roads were rough...
We hit a stretch in Oklahoma that knocked not only the starboard blanket locker, but the entire roof locker, off the wall! I made emergency repairs to rehang the blanket locker and roof locker, and installed the closet flange for the toilet. We have a toilet again, although the stuff that was in the wayward lockers had to be reshuffled to minimize weight in those compartments.
The last time I was in Tucumcari was 1972. The only thing that seems to have changed, is the Interstate is now complete, and many businesses are closed. Most of the buildings are still standing, albeit vacant, giving the place a quasi-ghost town feel. There is supposed to be an air show here tomorrow, though we will be gone long before festivities commence. Todays distance was 485 miles, about what I had budgeted for a day's journey. We are, however, a half-day behind where we expected to be. I had added a half day padding into the schedule at Flagstaff, it looks like our visit to the Petrified Foest will be an abbreviated one. We also want to meet some forums friends near Gallup tomorrow, and chat for at least a few minutes.
I notice Marie didn't share the B van camping experience with you, and all I'll say is it is a lot smaller than Bertha. It kind of reminds me of the old George Carlin piece he did called "a place for your stuff". We have gone from a house to a trailer to a B van, and we do have a tent, though I think I'd rather have my hair set on fire, and have somebody put it out with a sledgehammer, than use it.
Strangely, there was a couple from a town very near where we are going, and they know the place I will be working, so we have at least 2 customers! I also have a photo of a late model Safari that showed up just before dark last night. I tried to get "artsy", and show Bertha and the Safari in the same photo, but light conditions were less than adequate.
I also have a couple of pictures from Airstream of Arkansas, including both Gene and the new Pan America:

Hi Terry,

Why don’t you put up a photo of the aforementioned blanket lockers? They are the first ones I have seen. I’m sure others are unaware of this option. I’d like to have one curbside in my Excella’s bedroom. Streetside, the headroom is already limited under the existing locker.

You shouldn't have told her, she'll be insufferable now!
Now all we have to do is teach Sophie to type, and she can start posting, too.
BTW, here's a link to the air show I mentioned above:http://www.tucumcarinm.com/calendar/...tail.php?ID=57
