Before I bought the AS, I joined the site devoted to all RVs and asked them which would be the better investment for possible full-time living. 95% of those on that forum had a SOB....and they all said "go for the Airstream."
That IS interesting.
Whenever I have a major purchase, one of the things I take note of is what things people say, "I really wanted a (blank) but couldn't afford it, so I got a (blank) instead," about. Even if they're perfectly happy with what they ended up with, once you've heard that more than three or four times, I really believe it's a good idea to take a good long look at what everyone wanted.
I've done that with my sewing/embroidering machine (which doesn't sound very impressive until you realize we're talking about $6k sewing machines), my car, and now the TT. So far, I've found a way to get whatever it was a lot cheaper (buying used, buying the showroom model, etc.), and it's worked out really well for me.
