We came across this technique by accident, and realized that flat black oil paint acts just like charcoal when sprayed and you get all the same values through out the whole picture (particularly B/W old vintage photography). It dries almost instantly and I can shoot thru these things like a bullet on fire! ha When ever I teach some one to airbrush I tell them to practice with black oil paint first...then color later if they want.
So after you have done the whole enchilada in Black (charcoal) you dust over the whole thing with the proper colors and this is the outcome. I like it- THEY like it and it,s fast.
