New full timer 1st time AS buyer

I am going to buy an airstream and live in it full time and I am sure I will be on here a lot looking for advice!
I am mostly worried about where to find long term sites and how you guys do it on a fixed income. I don't like the high volume camp sites and they cost too much for long term anyways.
What do you guys do to afford a piece of dirt to park on?

I am in Olympia, WA and I need to stay in the general are for work and to see my kids.

How much is too much? Washington Land Yacht Harbor, down the street, shows full hookups and wifi for $532 a month, $432 a month if your WBCCI

Or you could do this

Thanks for the links!

I just had an interview for a great job just south of here in Centralia. I am getting a second interview in a week but he was pretty positive that I was going to get it. I was able to find a few places with full hook ups in that area for $275/month. I am financing the trailer so $500+ /month on top of the trailer payment is a stretch. I am leaning more towards purchasing land now that this job is a reality and it would mean a lot more income for me. I will only purchase land if it is unincorporated county and is 5 or more acres so I can have my own gun range!!!

This sudden opportunity for a new career has literally just changed my life for the better. Thanks for your help and for alerting me to WBCCI. I did not know about that club.

Full-timer for 16+ years. My yearly expense is $2200 + elect (av. 50 a month). Less for both if I boondock.

I stay 2 months in Deming N.M., 5 months in S. Fork, CO. and 5 months in Old Mexico. I choose where I park based on the weather--lots of sun and moderate temps. In some locations an RV rental costs MORE than an apartment.

My favorite was in Los Barriles, Baja, Mex. where I parked free on the beach for two months. Right next door the full hookup RV park with beachfront site was $900 a month. Choice was easy.

Seek and you shall find.

Campgrounds in north Mississippi are in the neighborhood of $450 per month for very nice RV parks with full hookups, Wi-Fi, cable TV, pool, hot tub...

Thanks guys.
I did the initial paperwork on my trailer today. I got a barely used 2015 23D bunk Flying Cloud Idaho State Parks LT ED. They only made 25 of them and I managed to get my hands on #1...
I am driving down to Boise next week to pick it up!

Have you done your homework ?

Do you know the challenges involved with trying to live in an RV in the winter?

Are there any towns that allow you to live on a piece of land in an RV? Will they require a septic tank and well?
