How-to live part time in east coast?

Can anyone advise me? I want to: live about 3-6 months at a time on the east coast ( to be close to family) including some cold weather? Is it Ok to just park in a friend's yard or a few different places? How would I go about finding RV parks to stay in part time? ANY advice helps....I will be living anywhere between NY and Philadelphia....or surrounding areas......
