I never said it was an option. I was asked how I got insurance in SD and I answered.

Yes you are right.. but you have to remember that when "someone" ask a question and you reply it a good idea to also let other readers of the post know there are "special conditions" to get the insurance you enjoy.

Just saying you have "Federal Blue Cross" does not tell the whole story, as you can see by the replys.

That could imply a company name of sorts, not that is is only available for "federal employees".

but hey good for you.. one nice perk of putting up with government office place politics

If you go back and reread you will see that I said my wife is a retired federal employee.

I wonder if these guys can help? Looks like the trend is against the fulltimer who retires early. What a mess.

KJRitchie;

I've been in contact with them and same issue of the insurance plans requiring a utility bill with an address. Thanks for the suggestion. Jim

Other limitation with SD seems to be that coverage outside the state was a challenge as the few companies remaining in their HCA marketplace wanted a minimum of 6 months in SD. But Kyle at RVer Insurance is 'da man' when it comes to this stuff. Good luck.
