Full timing - finding a place

I think this deserves its own thread.

What are one's options for full timing, in terms of picking a lot?

1) RV park. Good: Easy to find. Bad: fairly expensive, the ones I looked at seem to charge about $90/week, over a year it adds up.

2) Mobile home park - most don't accept RVs. Many you don't want to be in anyway.

3) Private lot. How feasible is that?

4) Buying a lot. Not applicable in my case.

what else?

I guess it all depends on what part of the country you're going to be staying in.

Down here in FL, you can find a nice rv park from $195 per month and up. I'm currently paying $235 per month.

I've noticed comparable pricing in TX, NM & AZ.

BLM dry camping is the cheapest why to go.

National Forest is another option.

Camp hosting at State Parks, Nat. P or Nat F.

Where are you looking?

That will give us some idea of what to recommend. The options vary wildly from one part of the country to another.

Within 1-1.5 hours of D.C.

I am trying to be a full timer. I bought a great space for $1,800. in the Minnesota Airstreaam Park. The yearly dues are only $735. It has a golf course, pool and you can landscape or build on your lot. If I could only find a place as affordable in Texas for the other half of the year I would have it made

I got the number & infor from "Tedra's Airstream Parks Dictectory"
copyrighted from 1980.

They may have had an area code change since then?

They are still there!

Need a full-timing location

Any references from someone near Winchester, VA would be appreciated. For something longer than 2-weeks typical at RV parks, as far as I understand.
