Drips - Dehumidifier info Needed

Does anyone have a favorite, small dehumidifier? It's getting damp in here and there is mold on the window sills. Thanks, Jim

Welcome to the Forums, hoofer... Someone will give you some dehumidifier info, but it will also help a lot if you crack a window or open a vent a bit to allow fresh air in and humid air to escape... Good luck with it!

I've been reading up on them, but haven't bought. Most say the little Peltier (non-compressor) ones are not effective.

The smallest compressor types are 25 pints. They are still pretty large cabinets and service up to 400 sq. feet. My 30 footer is about 240 Sq feet. I wish they made a compressor type in a small cabinet that had about a 15 pint capacity, but alas...not.

Google 25 pint dehumidifier and you'll get a few brands to research.

We live in the southwest corner of Washington state. When we button up the Stream for the winter we put a Damprid in the kitchen sink and another in the shower. On the advice of a friend who knows about such things, we keep everything closed to the outdoors. No problems. Hope this may work for you.

Thanks, I,m living in Poulsbo, WA and we live in a 25'Safari while we look for a house to buy. Showers etc. generate lots of vapor. We need something, like a trip to AZ! Jim

Good advice here, works well for us too.
We open the bathroom window to it's first (smallest ) setting, leave it open during our stay. Makea a BIG difference.John

We use the Danby brand of dehumidifier, in our home and in the Airstream. A 30 quart model in the travel trailer and a 45 quart model in the house have served us well.
All brands may well prove to be a bit louder than you may desire. The problem in the Airstream is where to put the dehumidifier. You just have to determine what works for you. When the dehumidifier is not is use, it lives in the truck.

I got a soleus air 30 pint dehumidifier from Home Depot that has worked great. It's not too noisy, but I don't use it when I am sleeping. I will leave it on when I go to work and it keeps the humidity in my 27 FB to about 30-35%. I also have a fan I turn on to keep the air moving throughout the day.

Comments on exhaust fan and an open window are spot on, but also helps immensely if you warm the washroom first -- warm air holds more moisture, whereas moisture condenses on cold surfaces.

If I light the furnace for five minutes before Deb showers, and run the washroom exhaust fan, then no condensation on the walls or windows. Like magic and easy to do.

You could always move from Paulsbo to Gig Harbor where the humidity is non existent.
PS Does the bakery still sell those dough boy donuts. I used to love those things. Look me up when you make it down this way. I know where all of the good bars are in The Harbor.
