I think Wilson is a reputable company and the system you mention would likely work well.
For only $100, I bought the Wilson "Sleek" and it works well for me in what would otherwise be poor reception areas. Its cradle supports only a single cell phone but works with any phone even if it does not have an external antenna port. I do get the the advertised 20dB of gain.

Thanks in advance!

Alas, I am entirely dependent on AT&T as the ipad uses that only. However, I found that I could connect with the cell Internet and phone wise even with 1 bar.
I believe an AT&T employee had told me that somehow the cell towers piggyback or whatever it's called to help folks in more rural areas connect.

Dear Snog, We camped next to an ATT user in Corpus Christi, TX. We (Verizon) had three bars; he (ATT) had to leave because he could not get a connection and his work depended on his computer use. We have camped in places where we were "sub-serviced" by some other provider and the connections have been fine. I'm not familiar with the ins and outs of "piggybacking" but as I mentioned earlier, the only two places we've been in almost 4 years of full time camping that didn't receive Verizon service were Death Valley, CA and Ocate, NM.

Archer. Thankyou for the correct terminology. That was the word I'd meant. Anyway, I am hoping that I will be able to avail myself of it should at&t's signal not be strong enough. As for verizon having the stronger signal, i cannot change to it for my iPad. It only uses AT&T.

We plan to use the Verizon MiFi Verizon Wireless - Mobile Broadband - Products

We can connect our IPad to it as well as our computers. We depend on Verizon for our online teaching.

Jljustice's wife: my iPad is a 3G model. I bought it specifically becAuse I connect via 3G. I don't have wifi. You see, it's much cheaper for me to just buy a data package. It costs me 15 bux a month. If I got wifi, I would need a modem. To use a modem, I'd have to have either cable or a landline phone connection, either of which is rather costly, well over 50 bux when all is said and done.
Soooo.... I do hope I can connect via g3 with little problem, wherever I may choose to live in future. The rural town I was going to buy a mobile home in had a cell tower 3 miles away, so it isn't totally that far out in the boondocks.
