Question Can you urinate in shower with gray water drain open?

Hello,

My trailer is parked in my backyard full-time. My gray water valve is left half open all the time and connected to an in-ground, 20g garbage can drain on top of 7" of lava rock.

I don't use the toilet or black water tank for anything as I have a toilet in my basement I use for solid waste.

Is it ok to urinate in the shower with the water running?

Thank you!

Joe

This is a Seinfeld episode gone wrong.

Technically speaking, it depends on nearby water sources. If you have a clear slow moving creek or a well less than 200 feet from your can, then no.

Aesthetically, That's your call. Just remind me to not use your shower. Does your shower have a trap? Don't forget to flush!

How about a better solution? Why not spend the afternoon and trench out a line to your basement and install a "dump station"? Then you could use the full facilities of your stream.

Really?

If you are in an incorporated area, you are probably already in violation of some code with that set up. It's one thing to use your grey water from the household to water plants, but I'll bet code enforcement might frown on your "leach barrel" no matter how well intentioned. And don't even tell them that you are thinking about adding human waste to the equation.

Plus I believe Airstream has integrated that chemical (into your shower pan floor) that they use in swimming pools to detect urine, so the floor's going to turn all blue the first time you do that and everyone will know what you've been up to.

Give me a break! I suppose all the deer , birds, coyotes, dogs, cats, rabbits, squirrels are adhering to that 200' rule as well....or are they toilet trained?

Pee away.

But still.....where exactly do you think my septic tank in my last house (1/3 acre residential subdivision) outflow went?

You guys are right. I'm wrong.

Why don't you just fit the grey line right back into your fresh tank and save the extra step?

Have a nice day!

Google "uses of urine" and "uses for urine in history" for some interesting reading.
It is not nuclear waste.

Now that wrong crowd statement was good. Bwaaaaaaaaaa!!!!

Seriously though, I think peeing in the back yard is one of those neanderthal genes all men possess and use on occasion sort of like Sir Edward Hillary.....cause they can. Show me a boy or man that hasnt peed in his own back yard or a good buddies back yard and Ill show you a lier. Urine in its fresh state is actually sterile. I say mark your territory man. Just be careful not to confuse the dog.
