Odor is your primary concern. As stated above, urine is largely sterile. You might want to run a simple perk test on your sump tank; fill it with water and see how long it takes to drain. If it only takes a few hours, you're probably OK. If it takes a day or longer your sump is probably in a clay soil, and water (and the extra ingredients) aren't going to infiltrate quickly or very far. Eventually you'll concentrate whatever waste materials you’re putting into the system into a small soil area. I wouldn't be worried about contaminating any wells. It appears that you're in Denver. Most wells there are significantly deeper and in confined aquifers, i.e.: there are impermeable layers between the surface and the water bearing zone. Also, I wouldn't be too concerned about surface water contributions (creeks, rivers, ponds) unless you're immediately adjacent to them or you regularly overflow your sump. This may not be legal however; there are some absolutely ridiculous water regulations in the Denver Metro area.

Your proximity to neighbors and how well the soil there perks will decide for you.
I see you drilled holes in the bottom of the can...
If you are showering then you are going to get a back up of skin flakes, hair and what not.
Idealy the holes should be maybe half way up so the "stuff" settles and can be wet vac'd out (just like a proper septic field"
Next you should still use toilet treatment chemicals (bio-degradable) to keep odor down.....even if mixed shower water and Nr. 1.
Even if it's not practical to run a line to your house, maybe consider a weekly pumping directly from the grey tank to a toilet in the house using a garden hose and drill drive macerator pump.

I'm still not sure why you wouldn't just do your business in the house before you take your shower? ijs

Over the years I've found it's a lot easier to ask forgiveness than to ask permission, for this sort of performance.
Unless you pee more than 10 gallons during each event, and do this performance several times each day for a year or more, it's not worth discussing. 😊

In the old days it was not considered a problem to have the grey water go to the ground, now it is outlawed in many places, so old trailers have started to put in grey water tanks. Our newer rv's were designed to hold grey but none of the engineers ever figured out the percent grey to black, so the grey fills 3 times faster than the black. The best answer was depends where you are and the terrain. When I had to pass test for septic tanks they did a test of one gallon of water in a six foot hole and timed it's absorbtion. Funny you can have a hose running full time on our sandy soil and it won't form a puddle, and they still had to do the test at my expense of course. If it is a problem you will smell it within a week.

Exactly! I gather this is a "man cave" use of the AS outside the house. I don't think he is living in it and showering and washing dishes, etc. Maybe more info is needed........wait......we already have TMI!

I had to read this one from start to finish.

While most of the comments were interesting and humorous there is one that you defiantly do not want to take to heart. Do not put any form of tank treatment chemical in the system. Those chemicals have no value at all and are the main reason why more and more public dump stations are going off line or charging for the use. The chemicals kill the natural digestive action.

If you're in an area with septic, why make the trip to the shower? Walk around behind the trailer and do what comes naturally. You'll be doing your part to keep Colorado green.

To pee or not to pee: that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the bladder to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous pain,
Or to take aim against a shower drain.

Unless you have a special medical problem, urine is a sterile fluid and will present no issue in the ground. Legally, this may be another conflict, as laws do not always follow sensible thinking. I would suggest, the water and soap from washing other body areas will be far more germ laden than urine.

Yes, 'tis nobler to take aim at a shower drain than a drone!

This a little off this thread but any one that has been to any of countries like Germany, France , Italy etc. you will find that they are not as prudish as Americans about body function, They have more of attitude like boys in rural America about urinating . Nuff said about this.

Funniest thread in a wile. Love the responses. As we all know fresh urine is sterile and has astringent properties. It has been used as mouth wash by the Romans and as a tooth whitener and facial wash and cure for athletes foot. A little diluted urine won't hurt anything or anyone. Just do it!

This is a Haiku that I wrote a long time back, but thought might be a little to colorful for the Haiku Contest thread. But after reading this thread, heck I'm just going to let it fly.

My neighbors don't care
if I pee on their bushes
I love good neighbors

Ahh!! there now I feel better.
But seriously why not just do it in a bucket with a lid on it and then take that to the house for proper disposal. That way there is no splashing in the shower.

Maybe I missed something here or I am just clueless and can't read properly but if your trailer is parked in your yard.....

Then why is there a need to use your trailer's shower system to relieve yourself? Why not just use the toilet or shower in the house? This whole thing might make a bit more sense to me if that gets answered.

Most places you are in violation of environmental laws already. Doesn't bother me at all, but I wouldn't let my neighbors know. Do gooders are everywhere! Jim

I sure I am missing something here but I will chime in. I do not see any reason to pee in the shower. It sounds like there is no toilet or black tank for you to use. Assume you have a toilet and black tank why NOT use them?? I have my AS here on my property a short distance from my house. I have a Flo Jet Pump which attaches to the sewer outlet and it can drain into a house toilet or sewer or septic tank. Camping World $250. This eliminates the situation you have and its doing it the right way.
