Hi, I would not let my wife have a lap top or anything else between her and the dash board, passenger air bag, while I'm driving; And my wife understands why. Something to think about. [my opinion]

I have a yellow converter that fits in the cup holder. It is round and is suppose too. it's kind of cool.... It charges that lap top while I drive..

Thats a good point Robert, If that airbag goes off that laptop is part of you...

Once upon a time, I had a mount that went between the two front seats for a laptop. it would swivel toward either the passenger or driver, and would not be in the path of a deploying airbag.
There is, however the decision to be made of how far we want to go to have a laptop with us at all times.

You can get a plug for your cigarette lighter which has a normal outlet on the other end, sometimes as many as 3 outlets, at any Best Buy. I've used them on shorter road trips for my laptop / cell phone charger / etc. without any issue.

the answer is YES x2...

1. there are generic 12 v inverters (~150 watts) that u can plug the lap top cord into...

http://www.airforums.com/forums/470463-post12.html

2. there are SPECIFIC 12 v cord/bricks made for MANY brands/models of laptops.

http://www.airforums.com/forums/471883-post19.html
____________

i don't see YOUR specific laptop mentioned in this thread.

LIST it and we can find out IF a specific adapter exists in 5 minutes...

IF NOT, the xantrex/duracell inverter like this one works great...

(i have 2 of these now (one for the tow vehicle and one for the trailer)

Inverters are great while going down the road. However the appropriate 12V plug in for your model of laptop will work longer / better when dry camping.

I use a Black and Decker power pack when I can't get a 120v plug close enough to the putting green. (I've got 280' of cord too.) and rather than use the inverter section to power the 120v brick I use the 12v side with the car cord. I can run all day unless I've got my USB broadband plugged in.

Remember when running on 12v and not recharging to dim your LCD as this is the biggest power hog on your laptop.

Airbags? We don't have any airbags in our AS! Oh, and the laptop is on the pedestal between the seats. It's the navigation station while going down the road. The big screen display works best for the old eyes.

Yes, got one at Best Buy for about $50. I can also use it to charge my cell phone - eliminating the need for a second cell phone charger just for the truck.
