Best is a superlative, but in the real world of RVing it might be a relative term. I suppose it depends most on where you expect to park and, as you suggest, what other goods and services might come with the membership.

For us Good Sam pays for itself with just 2 or 3 nights per year at a qualifying campground. Their insurance rates and other services don't matter at all because we can get better rates and costs by just shopping around.

Also, being 62 years of age or even 55 in some cases qualifies you for so-called senior discounts, which often are as good or better than the price available to club members. I suppose getting that old does cost something, but it's a sunk cost.

We have had AAA with RV coverage for years and got good sam with emergency road service when we got a motorhome. We had a couple of breakdowns in our old Moho including a blown engine and Good Sam had much better service and rates then AAA.

Hi Knunut,

I've been more than pleased with "Passport America"
For its 50% discount at parks and use it plenty.

Been a member for 4 years, it offers the largest network of discount parks of any club, and at under 50 bucks a year it's great!

If you decide to join, don't forget to PM me so I can get a credit for a refferal

Since you have AAA, you can get a AAA VISA card that gives you 5% rebate on ALL pay-at-the-pump fuel purchases on the card. We have been traveling quite a bit, and we got a $54 rebate last month. This is like geytting 10 cents off per gallon with gas @ $2. We have had this since it became available 6 months ago.

For camp grounds we have KOA and Good Sam's. We have the extended memberships with both so saved money on the memberships and at the campgrounds. Hey $2.00 is $2.00! We find the Good Sam's Road Service to be the best because they will send out two trucks, one for the TV and one for the TT. If we are going to be more than a day for repairs they will tow our TT to the nearest camp ground.

We have KOA and Good Sam. Just use them for the camping discounts - both have more than paid for themselves in a month or so. Good Sam will send you all kinds of mail, both email and snail mail with all kinds of offers. I get better rates with USAA for insurance and roadside assistance, so I throw a lot of Good Sam stuff away. After 20 stays ( I think) you can get a "gold card" with KOA that will double your discount. We are on the road a lot and use both often.

I would assume that it does apply to diesel also. I run gas burners, so I am not 100% on that. The primary requirement is that the purchase be paid at the pump using the AAA VISA. The Customer Service Number for the AAA VISA is 1-800-807-3068. You might want to give them a call and ask.

We are fulltimers and Escapees members; not so much for the camp discounts; but, for the physical address and mail service, since we don't own a "sticks and bricks" any more. There are far fewer Escapees parks and affiliated parks than Good Sams, so we are GS members, too...oh yes, we are Passport America members, too. We use the Escapees member forums extensively to connect with other FTers...including Escapees in Airstreams.

KOA Kampers club is family friendly....

Hello all -

Firstly, we aren't full timers, or even really, part timers. Even though we use SilverToy part-time... whatever....

The KOA Kampers club is a great membership benefit since many/most of the KOA's have pools which is a great "+" when kids are in tow.... The membership is "Free" and there are discounts that apply when you use the card, there are also step up in the 'level' depending on usage....

There are obviously LOTS of other benefits that are somewhat more seldom used (towing, medical, glasses, etc...) but there are really some more family oriented benefits as well.....

Since the 'aim' of so many "camping" clubs is to recruit and retain 'families' this seems an area where one or the other group/ club could really make a 'carve out' for themselves (places with an indoor pool or hot-tub/ game room/ firepit with activities/ game area/ internet access/ slip-and-slide/ swingset/ pingpong/ etc), and really such that really draw and retain families that travel a lot and need that amenity factor. Just a thought. Sorry it got buryied behind all that other stuff. Gold nugget there!

Anyway, all the best of the Holidays to each and every one of you!!!!!!!!

Axel
