solid aluminum

Try this website. It looks pricey but nice. Go to "custom boat kits" then "fun applications".

I love the pics- this forum is great! I thought everyone would just shoot down my idea. Now I am more determined than ever to do this so I can post pictures on the site! Won't be till the spring now, but anyway... Here are some pictures of the lake, and some existing floathomes. Now who wouldn't want a summer home there?Click image for larger version

Those photos are not only the coolest I've seen in a while, but also some of the funniest!!!

YES! That's exactly what I need! And I do hope the clubhouse has a fully stocked bar.

Not necessary on this lake, as everyone is slightly off-kilter.

Talking

Also, I figure I wouldn't need a motor- if I mount the awning rail on a center pivot I can turn it sideways and use the awning as a sail!

I wish I remembered! Oh well... Sadly, it was in rough shape. To tell you the truth, I'm not even sure it did sell. There's a tiny semi-recollection in my brain that it might not have made the minimum.

The following website is at least one good source of aluminum pontoons that could be used to make an excellent base for an Airstream pontoon boat.

Airstream on a boat

I love this thread. Is it worth reviving? I think so! I came across it today doing some google searching for barge trips I can load my Airstream onto.
Has there been any new similar barge trips anyone has come across or taken since this thread's last post? Has anyone turned an Airstream into a boat recently? If so, share it. I and others would love to see it.

Thanks!

We built a barge then a 'camp' on top. We had water tanks inside, a railed walkway on perimeter, front screened porch, huge fantail on stern... a 'box' which held our I/O power plant... a 15KW Korean era 'power plant'/generator on the roof and a roof wheel house... it was a load of fun as it was our hunting camp and playground...

To buy an old barge might be fun...then load up the AS...

Back in the early 1960's after Glen Canyon dam was built creating Lake Powell, you used to be able to rent a pontoon boat/barge looking thing to mount your travel trailer on, like a houseboat. Not sure what happened to them, but I always wondered how you'd explain to your insurance agent what your trailer was doing at the bottom of Lake Powell.

Found this YouTube link, but I don't recall exactly what those early barges looked like.
