We are planning on fulltiming in the future. We like to have room and carrying capacity; thus we have a 34. We pull it with a 3/4 ton diesel. Since 2005, the 34's have a CCC of approximately 3,000 lbs.

A fifth wheel or diesel pusher will have more storage and room. You may also want to go and read the escapees forum Escapees Discussion Forum (Powered by Invision Power Board) which is an organization supporting fulltimers. They have many treads on the advantages and disadvantages of each type or RV for fulltiming use.

People fulltime in all types of RV's including pop-ups. It comes down to personal choice. We would find it hard to fulltime in any Airstream smaller than a 30. Our prior Airstream was a 30. It's one thing to spend two weeks in an RV; it's another to spend 24/7/365.

Continue doing your research and you should be happy with your choice.

Yes, 14 years

I realize this is an old thread, but the posts range over time. I bought my 32' 1986 Argosy for traveling back in 1997. Unfortunately, the economy changed, I had a couple of contracts broken so I never got on the road. So for 12 years, my beautiful Argosy was my temporary home. I even started an internet radio station from it called Airstream FM. Two years ago, I bought a 35' Nuwa Hitchhiker. For me, I was expecting to be on the road in the Argosy anyway. Already downsized to prepare for the move. Here is a link to the thread where i just told a longer version of the story:

So yes, it is a wonderful way to live your dream...even if you aren't traveling right away.

In October of 2008 my wife and I sold our condo, packed our furniture in storage and hit the road in our 34' Limited. My wife had a stroke in 1999 that left her paralyzed on her right side and unable to speak, so I modified our Airstream by taking out the gaucho and putting her lifting chair in it's place. I put grab bars in the shower and one on the wall by the door.

We travelled through 36 states from October 08 until this past October 2010. This trip was supposed to be just six months, but we had such fun and she came alive in ways I never thought possible, that we continued for two years. Personally, I would still be on the road now, but my wife needed a break, and the end of October she developed a pulmonary embolism that nearly killed her, so we are parked.

I encourage anyone to hit the road for as long as they can, and go and see this wonderful country of ours, and all that it has to offer...

Regards,

Reganzo
