Step Light Questions

While I was underneath working on wiring, I noticed a round, amber light underneath the folding steps. Would have saved me some unnecessary trips up and down the steps at night. Anyone know when this light is supposed to be ON?

On my other RV the light is on with the door open, on this one I have never seen it come on either.

I have sent an email to Kwikee Steps to see if they would part with a wiring diagram. The fact that the steps extend & retract tells me the door switch is working, but nothing else is known!

My step is messed up and the light is there but never light up.
The PO (previous owner) has installed a separate sir switch so only this switch pulse the step out or in. I am sure this is not right but got now that what it is.

Not sure as I don't know how it should be. I have to hold the switch until it either extend or retract every time I want to use the stairs. I would think it should go automatic with the option to leave it out all the time except when engine starts.

OK, found a link to the light that is not on all Kwikee steps. Time to get out the voltmeter and check!
