just wondering if there's a "special" courtesy signal given among AS owners that i need to be aware of...!

An ordinary friendly handshake works just fine. But please, no "campaign trail" politician handshakes, whatever you do!

Head light flash

We usually flash our headlights at Airstreams going in the opposite direction. Not to be confused with the flashing that may occur in the area of a radar speed trap.

Talking

Often you will see a wave and a smile from fellow Airstreamers. The meaning is pretty easy to interpret... "They are a friendly, welcoming bunch of people...".

Yes, there is. It's called the Vulkem handshake. You grab the other owner's hand, and you can't let go. Ever. Unless you have some solvent handy.

Alcohol usually makes a good solvent. Anything from beer to vodka, as long as you have to let go of the hand in order to hold the drink.

Just fly the flag below and you'll meet more Streamers than you can shake a stick at.

There is a special signal given by SOB owners to Airstreams. It looks like a raised fist, sometimes with a single finger extended.
I've tried to signal them back, but I must be doing it wrong, as they just keep signaling with more enthusiasm.

Mark, I always thought that signal was people telling me that I'm Number 1.

That's when you smile, wave and quietly say, 'thanks, you too, you piece of number two'.
