Mysterious Brownouts?!

Has anyone had this happen? We've owned the clipper for 4 months and now have this weird problem:

The a/c, microwave, convection oven, anything that is powered by the campground will go out. Then about 10 seconds later, everything comes back on.

Now, if I trip the breaker at the campground, I of course lose the things mentioned above. After resetting the breaker, I have to reset the clocks.

But when this brownout happens, I lose power, but I don't lose any clocks. If I unplug the VCR for the same amount of time, 10 seconds, and plug it back in, I DO lose the clock.

Anyone have any ideas?

Several things come to mind. One is that you have a transfer switch issue. There is a delay built into them and could cause the problem in just the right situation.

Another possibility is that you have a loose connection somewhere in your input panel, and when loaded it is heating up and causing the disconnect but still allowing a very small amount of power through, enough to run the clocks.

The problem is kind of hard to diagnose remotely, but I bet you will find the issue in either the transfer switch or the panel. I am of course assuming your cord and plug set is in good condition, and the outlet you are plugged into is also good. They also could cause the issue with heat and load.

Undock AS

Open breaker box

Test there is no power

Tighten all connections in box

Check where power cord comes in there will be junction box before the breaker box usually. Look inside to be sure all good there.

If all good maybe prob with power cord plug end. Is it new? Etc.

I'd also check the campground power. Some campgrounds have old/bad power that varies widely that we found out first hand. Use meter at power source to see if power is stable.

Is it only at one campground?
If it is ask your neighbors if they are having problems to.

ok, opened the box, after undocking, and tightened all screws. found a few where I could turn the screw maybe 1/16th" of a rotation, closed the box and connected to the campground. voila! everything is peachy keen, thanks!
