Ground wire??

When I removed the heater fan motor to replace it, I found a large (about #10 wire or so) white wire with a large (1/4 inch hole) ring on the end of it hanging down behind the glove box, not connected to anything. It appears to show about 0.3 ohm resistance between it and the ground to the fan motor, so I presume it is a ground wire for something. Does anyone have any idea where it should be connected? I see no obvious place under there. Is it safe to assume all white wires are grounds? That seemed to be true of the Coachmen I used to own.

Can't figure out where it goes so I left it hanging. In the process I found out my Ford chassis Airstream has a cheap General Motors heater blower. interesting.
