Diesel Gen Starting/Stopping (newbie)

Is there a preferable way to start or stop the diesel generator?

Also, while driving down the road, would I need the gen to run in order to run coach heat or a/c?

I've searched the threads but don't see anything for this, so it might be a basic question. And, I didn't find a manual for it in my pack of manuals.

Your unit should be Onan.
I can't help you there as our previous units were PTS.

Someone with the newer units will answer you.

Running furnace should not need gen running as it is 12V. Rooftop A/C will run on inverter for short time. Typically you would run gen if you need coach a/c. Dash a/c is just like your car.

A diesel, like all generators, should be started with no load on it, run for about 30 seconds or so, load applied and you are good to go. Stoping should be the reverse, remove the load, let it run 30 seconds or so, shut it down.
