Canada, Importing Class A from USA

This site will clarify what Class A units can be imported into Canada without too much hassel.

Section 5.1 - MOTORHOMES CLASS A AND C

Most Airstream Class A units can be imported with only minor updates required.

Beaver is listed in two places, before and after being bought by Monaco. All 98 and after are OK for importing.

Country Coach has not restarted production yet but now have a program to update older Class A coaches to meet Canadian import standards. Contact them in JC, Oregon before you spend your money. http://www.countrycoach.com/2012/03/...liance-issues/

Country Coach Corporation

All the Class A OEM's are listed here so do your homework.

IF ITS NOT ON THE LIST IT IS NOT ADMISSIBLE.

IMPORTATION OF VEHICLES (15) YEARS OLD OR OLDER AND BUSES MANUFACTURED BEFORE JANUARY 1, 1971 - Vehicles fifteen (15) years old or older, as determined by the month and year of manufacture, and buses manufactured before January 1, 1971, are no longer regulated under the Motor Vehicle Safety Act by virtue of their age. While Transport Canada does not regulate the importation of these vehicles, it does not preclude the vehicles from having to meet provincial/territorial safety and licensing requirements. Importers of such vehicles are required to complete a Vehicle Import Form 1, at the time of importation, and present proof of ownership. Also, please contact the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) for clearance requirements.

Happy Motoring

Dave

Dave,

The item regarding 15 year old Class A busses sounds like the statement for TTs, BUT for TTs they add "that have not had major modification". Which the gentleman I spoke to at Canada Customs meant "no huge updates".

Worth asking to see if that applies to the Class A units as well, perhaps?
