Talking A37, A39 Tech Help

I purchased a new A37 in September 2008. I recently fixed my last known problem area and now can say everything works as intended (until I find some new problem that has not shown up yet). Since this is an all Electric/Diesel Coach (no propane) many of the problems where electrical in nature. There where also several design defects, wiring mistakes and faulty modules. Over the pass several months I have had service work done at three Airstream dealers, Airstream factory and two Freightliner dealers. There is very little information on this Coach since only about 25 where made, however, I have collected virtually all that was available and have also generated some new schematics. There are several design defects which I have found and corrected

I am very pleased with the A37 both in livability and performance. The storage is outstanding and contrary to popular myth I can boondock for almost one week with no hook-ups and without running the generator. Since the generator is 12 KW it will easily run everything even in a SW desert. I get about 11 to 14 mpg on a level road at 65mph and an overall average so far of almost 8 mpg with or without a tow vehicle.

I will be happy to help anyone that has purchased one of these Coaches or anyone considering it. Just send me your questions at: [moderator edit: email removed to protect member from spammers. Please respond w private messages.]

I too think they are beautiful coaches and just about the only Motorhome that I am interested in owning. However, I also love my 30' Airstream Safari Bunk. If only the A-Liner had been available with bunk bed options I would have seriously considered trading the "Changes" in on one for the family while they were still being made.

Congratulations on your beautiful coach and getting her all ship shape!

One thing you may not be aware of, if I understand correctly, Airstream didn't actually build the A-Series motorhomes. They were contracted out to a custom coach builder in Oak Grove, OH (IIRC). They were the original designer of he prototype and expanded their production capacity to include mass () production of the A-Series. So, I guess you can't blame all QA problems on the mother ship.

BTW, Gene, when you guys took over the inventory from Middle Tennessee Airstream, did you get the A-Series units they had in stock? If so, I take it you have sold them already since last I heard there was only one unsold A-37 in inventory in the country.
