OK, If I spent a day on the road, I could get from Missouri to Illinois. Are you stopping along the way to test it? How is it working out?

I got it serviced yesterday and get new tires today will stay at a campground in St. Charles MO to test everything out. Don't have the manuals so with the online manual from the AS site and trying everything I hope I can make sense of it.
Have water coming from under the slide coming out. Hopefully only from washing or so.

Crazy! You are still so close to the airport. I have that horrible 2 hour drive to get to my RV when I go to get it.

I guess it is smart to find out what is wrong and make them fix it, but I am buying mine as is. So if they didn't JUST fix it for me I expect they will be no more help then me driving home before working on whatever is broken when I take possession.

That is a LOT of room for one person, just roaming around at night. I think w/o the wife and dogs it would seem quite alone, glad I have the Sprinter RV when I am by myself.

Don't forget you promised us all photos!

So far not a good start. Water heater busted and water pump also.
The basement and the slide out flooded.
Now I have to get a new water heater and a new pump before I can even take a shower.
Found also a nice mice nest no mice but lots of leftovers.
Front ac seams not to work and can not get anything on the TV's.
Wife is not happy expecting 94 degree to day.

Probably smart, bringing your toad. I was thinking of flying, but I have twice as far to go as you. Glad I didn't take it for the first trip out there, after discovering what things were wrong on it I wanted the dealer to drop the price by a LOT. Since he didn't I was actually only away from home for less that 15 hours. If I had driven it would have been 3 days each way, and to come home empty handed would have probably pushed me over the top to buy at the original price. Since he came down I have been very happy and like I keep saying, excited to get my hands on it so I can start fixing the things I am not having him do.

Sorry about the shower and the flood. I am guessing since she is with you that you guys were already at BB&B or Walmart getting supplies for sleeping and such. I just took a sleeping bag and a towel and a change of clothes, oh and a 6 pack of Starbucks with me to get the RV. Will do it again some day soon.

So you are not going back to IL? Or are you just registering the RV in TX as it is cheaper? I was thinking of doing that for OR as we are planning on having a house up there and could use the RV as a base there. But all our physical addresses would be in CA so I am sure someone would bust me even if I was doing the right thing.

What did I eventually end up paying? You first...

I will become a Texan with address and everything. We will live fulltime in the Skydeck and travel using TX as our domicile.
I paid $70k plus a 2000 Mercedes Benz SL600.

I paid $65K so pretty similar, though I don't know what the benz is worth. We are really bringing down the worth of these on NADA. Mine shows $132,120 in the options I have.

The deal is looking for 10 -20% below NADA if everything works. I had another one from $135k down to $105k in absolute excellent condition. Well maintained nice me floor new TV's and new tires with 16k miles. I wanted to do a professional inspection but somebody just come up with the check and got it.
I valued the SL at $20k the dealer at $10k so for me it did not make a big difference.
On mine I need new windows as the almost all fogged up special the front both sides. The heater busted the water pump and a dozen other little things not working will end up being an extra $15k not to mention all the cosmetic changes.
I think we still did ok with something that unique.

Thank you gentlemen for the great honest open discussion about your great purchases. Very seldom do we see such frank openness. I hope you both truly enjoy your new homes ( toys, projects, and mistresses).

I posted this in a PM to an enthusiastic member but it occurred to me it may be of general interest too so:

The RV is only this week going to start getting worked on, despite his initial confidence that the windows could be easily fixed, my dealer fears it will not be so nice if he does it. There is a place in Arkansas that is famous for the fix (RVfogDr.com) so I will likely take it there. I did find a product from 3M for removing the bus wrap so I will be the one doing the finishing touches. The dealer is fixing the really wrong things and adding the dishwasher and I will have to do the rest.

Thanks for the enthusiasm. I too am excited, already bought new umbrellas for the roof and contacted a place that puts artificial turf on balconies, trying to get them to outfit the Skydeck with grass to keep the roof comfortable enough to stretch out on, and for the dogs to play and pee on, then just hose it off. The dogs can even come and go on warm days using the little door under the Skydeck hatch. Just hang screen material to keep the bugs out.

Also got a solar panel and controller to keep the batts up when I am not with the coach. Thinking I will outfit the whole rows of benches with panels, that way they can, in winter, be angled to the sun by slightly raising the bench seats. So fun.
