Wiper Blades

I saw this in the latest Blue Beret, in case you missed it:
From: Schuís News; Dave Schumann, General Manager Customer Relations Group

Windshield Wiper Blades
A customer asked me at the Rally about the correct wiper blades for his 2004 Land Yacht Motor Home. He stated he had problems finding replacement blades that fit the contour of his windshield. The wiper blades for a 2004 Land Yacht are 28 inches long. They are a Trico product. The Airstream part number is 511419-105 for a complete assembly (arm and blade).
The blades are $33.05 each, meaning you will need to purchase two of them per Motor Home. I have had customers that have been able to find replacement blades at NAPA automotive stores.
From August 2013 Blue Beret

Wiper blades

I checked the entire file and can't find a receipt. I know I matched the size at a truck stop, apparently I'm not as good a record keeper as I hoped I was.

bought at wal mart..........u just have to drill out a couple rivets to match the original wiper blade arms.....sometimes wal mart is out of them, so when I find them I just buy two sets.......drill em out and then have an extra set ready just in case............cheaper than auto parts store

I bought 28" Michelin blades at PepBoy's after buying a replacement arm (Pantograph wiper arm part #511419-109 - $81.02) for the passenger side from Bob Jone's RV in Houston for my 2000 LY thirty. You don't have to drill out the Michelin, just remove the plastic universal fitting and the hole lines right up.

Bought replacement blades at Costco for about $12.00. There slipped right on. Have used them since November. What is this about drilling or replacing arm??

FInding the blades is the easy part ...

I have found blades that I think will work, but have not been able to figure out how to replace the old blade. There appears to be a large pin with a screwdriver slot on one end that is necked down on the other to take a small nut. The structure is such that a socket will not fit on the nut. I can grab the nut with channel-locks, but the force required to turn the pin is excessive. At this point, I have working but worn wipers and do not want to break the pin and have no wipers.

Any thoughts about what to do with this will be appreciated.

Thanks!
George

And, maybe I have not found the wiper blades for my Airstream. The parts manual state that the number 511419-105 will not interchange with 1998 and older Land Yachts. So, I still have the problem of removing the old blade without breaking the mounting pin.

It has been a while but as I recall, the ones from Walmart were almost a perfect match, but needed a pin drilled out (2 minute job)to allow installation on arm. About 11 years ago in Canada that's all I could find. But it worked. If neededI could dig them out and photo em.
