Un-welcome Visitors

It was time to get the Airstream in for its spring service. Took it to a diesel shop in Great Falls, MT that was owned by another Airstream owner I met locally.

What the photos show is the AS on the rack and the air filters removed. Apparently I had a family of mice living in the air filter for awhile. Needless to say once removed, my gas mileage went up to 12mpg!!!

In the photo with the rear hood open you can see the louvers on the left rear corner. This is where the mice got into the airfilter. Nowadays I have a screen cover inside the louver to prevent unwanted visitiors.

Just goes to show...even Airstreams need a good spring cleaning

Not only did I see the air filter, but I see they like to use quality tools like that 1/2” drive ratchet on the workbench ! The lift system in the shop is made by a company called Grey. It is a quality unit from a quality company. Regards,Bob

It was a clean first class shop. Owner runs a transport company with semi trucks up to Alaska often. Shop Foreman was retired from Cummins Engine Plant. Very pleased with work they did.

Air Filter

You were very lucky. Our 94 DP Land Yacht 34 came with a history of a replacement Cummins diesel at 37K miles, due to the wrong air filter that starved the original engine for air and blew the it up.
I guess I better check for mice.
Once while staying in the Amish country in Ohio we had a mouse come from the corn field an took up residence in our kitchen & bathroom drawers. Took 24 hours to catch and kill him. However it took two days to clean up the nesting mess he made and erase the footprints of his visit. My neat-nic wife had to wash everything we owned.
