How did it feel? We pulled our Forester (#3300) for the first time and it gets quite harry over 60 mph. Really pushed the rear end around. Turning was kinda like drifting, Start the turn and feather the ass around by counter steering the rest of the way the turn. We unhooked at purgatory and drove separate the rest of the way to Silverton.
Kept above 30 mph in 2nd mostly, sometimes jumped in first.

It really felt good. We dropped to 40 twice for short steep parts of the inclines but most of the way we were around 50 uphill all the way up most of them. We cruised high mtn valleys at 60-70 & didn't get pushed even in windy areas. I think my jeeps closer to 5klbs w/heavy duty bumpers & 32" tires. Red mtn pass (Silverton Durango) Is very steep. Wouldn't surprise me to get knocked down lower there. It's called the Million Dollar Mile because it cost that much almost 100yrs ago. I always tell people that 1 of the scariest things I've ever seen on a motorcycle was a silver haired rv'er in my mirror on that pass. Just the thought of a flatlander in a bus towing w/o a class c or experience on that grade makes ya twist the right grip pretty hard! LOL

Towing in the mountains

I thought the idea of a "Toad" was to unhitch and use the toad for the Silverton & Uray climbs. That's what we do instead of taking the Roadhouse to the top of dead end roads.

Nice! We were over near Mt Princeton Hot Springs near Salida. Stayed up there 10 days wandering different directions in Jeep.

No wrong turn

We stayed in Durango and took the Toad to Mesa Verde, Silverton & Uray then took the Roadhouse to the Great Sand Dunes Nat'l Park, Silida, Great Gorge,
the north to the Rocky Mountain National Park. The "Lander" is design to supplement the Airstream is the "Space Shuttle" or the Mother Ship ever since I drove up Chimney Rock in NC.
I guess If I was going to stay longer, driving up would have been an option,
but I don't think I'd tow the toad up.
When we got to Silverton, ahead of the train, we found a dead town. Then the town crier announced "the train is coming" and the music started an costumed people appeared and it was just like Disneyworld until the train left and the lights went out.
