Selling my LY

Without actively looking for another rig I came across a 32-ft Excella and Dodge diesel truck that is what I have always wanted, so I've put a deposit on it. Now I have to sell the 34-ft LY I've had for the past 6 or 7 years. I've posted the ad on the "for sales" of the forum. The LY is in excellent running condition - has been serviced by Cummins for the past 3 years. It had originally been purchased in the US and was later imported into Canada (has the Canadian RIV sticker on it). Thus, any US or Canadian buyer will be able to license it with a minimum of bureaucracy. Home phone number is (613) 829-3587.

Howard, good luck in selling your LY. I will miss your helpful posts in the MH sections. However, since you will still be in the AS family, I am sure you will continue to post.

Great pictures, clear and enough to see a lot of the features.
Especially liked the sat dish mount, wish PO had done something similar for my unit.
Good luck on your selling, if dealers knew more about what AS has produced I would have looked for one like yours.

After a while, one becomes a walking service manual as various issues emerge. We've done a lot of work on the LY, including a 1-piece linoleum floor that matches the cabinets (even the added trim is oak stained to match). I did remove the ice-maker (have no use for it), and it is currently in my storage shed. Once the LY has a new owner, I'll likely sell it.

Ice maker was still an option in 2000, I found the pex pipe capped off behind the frige, original owner didn't op for it. We usually just dump the home ice bin into a plastic tub, lasts for a week, longer stays it would be nice to have an icemaker, hate to rough it camping. lol
When you were doing the flooring did you notice AS plumbers cut oversize holes when mounting pipes, found one yesterday 4 inch circle for 1.5 inch grey water, they missed location and increased the size to 6x3, but covered it with carpet to keep the critter out.

That is the Steer-Safe sway control system - see Steer Safe

When I first purchased the LY about 7 years ago, there was a sway controller that looked like a long shock absorber. It was an aftermarket item that a previous owner installed. However, the oil leaked out and it began to rattle and stopped working. I saw an ad for this one and looked into it. It is used by many motor home owners and some owners of mid-sized tractors (5th wheelers) as it provides excellent sway control. Before installing it, I used to occasionally get white-knuckled driving on narrow roads - with it, it handles like a car.

It is sold at Camping World stores, BUT you can buy it directly from the factory in Deming NM. I happened to be travelling through Deming, so I stopped and they installed it at the factory. It does come with a lifetime guarantee and I make it a point to pass through Deming once a year and have them make any small adjustments.

Howard's 94 Land Yacht

Howard,
I hope you find a new owner for your Land Yacht that will participate here as you have. The price is real attractive.
Do you know anything about the graphic's on 1994's? Our is also a 94 Diesel Pusher, but with differnt graphic's and headlight configuration.
Check my avitar picture.

Paul I don't know much about the graphics styles except that you can't get them any more. My original plan was to have the exterior repainted and have the stripes painted on.

So far I've had over 7,000 hits on my ad in Kijiji. A few tire kickers. I've dropped the price from $31,000 to $28,000 to $24,800 and now down to $22,800 with not one serious offer. Next Saturday it will be sold at auction by Ken Finnerty, Auctioneer in Kemptville, Ontario when he does his auction of automotive equipment. The 90-year old I'm buying the trailer & truck from is getting antsy about completing the transaction and, quite frankly, I am too.

I will continue to monitor the postings in this sub group, as I may be able to shed light on some of the perplexing issues that are unique to AS LY's (Spartan Chassis).

I'll close with one small tip that was passed on to me by the mechanic at Cummins of Eastern Canada -- the older Cummins diesel engines were not designed to run on ultra low sulfur diesel fuel - they require lubrication in the fuel. So to make up for this, he suggested adding 1 quart of 2-stroke outboard motor oil (non detergent stuff, just plain old oil) with every fill of diesel fuel. He said that the lubrication is needed by the fuel pump as well as the injectors.
