rivets on transition piece.

Can screws be used in place if rivets? Is there anything to bite to? I thought I should use bigger rivets but it just looks like there is nothing to bit to

A photo would help.

Screws become loose when they are subjected to vibration.

There are rivets for most any job imaginable.

Sorry pic didn't take . It's a 94 airstream landyacht 33 ft motorhome . It's the rivets under the awning on the transition piece .what does the rivet bite on under the fiberglass outside?

There is steel frame behind the the lines of rivets. What size are your rivets? These are the ones I purchased WESTWARD Blind Rivet,Button,1/4x 0.598 In,Pk 100 - Blind Rivets - 5NNZ5|5NNZ5 - Grainger Industrial Supply

Yes, there should be metal to bite into. If not, then your steel rails are rusted out. You may need to seal the existing holes and drill new holes to secure the end cap.
