Removing generator for service

Has anyone taken their generator out? Our genny is taller than the motorhome's clearance, so we are pondering the best way to gain space to get it out. We figured surely someone has done this!
We are getting fumes inside, so are guessing there is a leak in the muffler. We need to take the genny cover off to see, but have to drop it down even to do that. If we actually have to take it right out to work on it, we have two questions:
1. Is the electrical connection long enough to at least drop it?
2. What is the best way of jacking up the motorhome to get it out?

To get more clearance, I would use lengths of 2X8 under the wheels. They can be stacked to get the necessary height (taper the ends and use long wood screws to make taller "stacks" more secure. You should be able to just elevate one side for the short time necessary to drop the gen set out. Use transmission jack or equivalent, to actually drop it down, as it should weight approx. 300#.

Suggest. Contact the manufacturer. Get the service manual. Generators are very heavy. Plus you do not want to cause additional problems. Fuel. Low voltage. High voltage. Exhaust. Proper torque when reinstalling. Plus you might want to do additional maintenance with gen removed.

I would also consider parking on dirt & digging out the clearance.

I just did mine and did the same made some ramps and a floor jack came right out.
